USF2000 League - Round 7 - Sebring - Reports
#1
I missed the race.

I hate it when I can join when all is almost finished and I cant put the clock back.

I think that not being able to fix time backwards should be illegal.

Not much progress in humankind in this area and its a pity.

So tell me you kind gents what happened there.

Was a good day due to life things not much practice but I really like these cars. Qual was okay ended up 11 so not great but ok.
Race 1 was ok had some wreckage in a few places I could not avoid so ran first half of race with no front wing. Hung in to finish 8th.
Race two was better had a cpl scraps with DJ as he pushed around me trying to get to the front but no damage at all to either I guess. Ended with a p6 had some fun with Mel off and on but was a pretty good race. Still not sure how cars with same engine and gears can be so much faster on straights than others but love the cars hate to see this season end in two weeks

Not a good weekend for me.
In qualifying I was able to get second place in the very final moments after lots of setup changes (Kristijan, by the end of the season you should let us check your setups, I can't figure out how you can get so much front grip even when close to a car in front)

Race 1
Race start was a bit of unexpected (first siren sounded, not the second nor the third and suddenly we were green flagged). This helped Kristijan and me get cleanly through the first corners with a gap to the men behind. As laps went by gaps increased, I was like 5 seconds behind K and 10 seconds ahead of DjC. It was time for my pitstop (end of lap 5), but being in a comfortable position I didn't want to risk getting out from the pits in traffic so I stayed one more lap on track.
Bad idea, I entered the pits at the same time as K but found we were both sharing the same pit box. As I slowed down and approached him I saw there was no way to get a piece of my car inside the red box so I aborted the pitstop and went back to the track. The next lap I did my pitstop (35 sec) but exited a few seconds behind DjC. I got close to him but I struggled a lot with front grip behind his turbulence.
Seing Mel was way behind I risked a lot more in the final lap kissing the grass at the exit of turn 4 and going into the barriers ripping my front wing.
I slowly finished my lap and ended the race still in third place.

Race 2
Started safely in the traffic in the first laps. I was behind Mel in third place when I saw him go wide at the entry of turn 1 so I pushed hard in the inside. But in the acceleration I lost some grip and went into his line touching him, my apologies.
I just kissed the barriers in the action, but suddenly I saw how part of my front wing was ripped off. Race went on, car still driveable. It was lap 4 so I decided to try to do an overcut on the cars ahead. I pitted and went out in no traffic pushing very hard. Three laps later the overcut worked and went into turn 1 ahead of a good bunch of drivers (aiming for a second place in the race). But at turn 4 pushing hard again kissed the grass, went into the barriers and got the rest of my front wing ripped and damaged suspension.
At this moment I preffered to retire the car and go for a shower after a sweaty event.

yea Nikos was kind of empty without you Smile Especially my team mate was missing, last race & this one.. Sad he is to busy so he wont race last two races.

Tim, slip stream + lower wing setup = gone with the wind Smile

quali was good for me but i could go even lower if i didnt make big mistake few times..DC & Gorka was close but at the end they didnt manage to go lower

race 1
like Gorka said we had clean start and manage to separate from group behind.i saw DC had bad start & then spin in t1 Sad so great comeback DC Smile 2th
its shame for pit sharing thing Sad Gorka was strong in the race..there was 3 cars in pit at that time so i didnt know i was the one at same pit spot.if i did i would move a bit for sure Smile
at that point i had big lead +17sec so i decided to take it easy till the end..

race 2
i followed behind Gorka at the start and manage to avoid any contact.i saw DC gain few positions but he had a contact with Tim and went wide..so again great comeback Smile
then Gorka made mistake and went wide touching with Mel.i took lead and after pitstop i ended behind Dan B,he disappear for a sec then reappear and nonstop was like that, was hard to judge what
will he do.my car was much quicker at that point,so then i decided to overtake him at last straight and went right but at that moment he disappeared again and i just saw him in front of me and was to late Sad and i touched him and he went wide.sorry about that.

sure Gorka i will collect my setups and share it with you guys so you can check difference.
WD All good racing there Smile

Well done KP, think that makes you now Champ.
We made it too easy for you.

I made a bad start race 1, not sure what happened, sorry to people behind me. Lost many places. Got going, and turned in for turn 1 and then crash. I never saw that Ron had snuck up the inside of me and I side hit him. Sorry about that.
I had fun getting the places back. I avoided a few crashes upfront on the way. I got lucky with Gorka's pit sharing, plus his crash, to finish 2nd.

Race 2, gained lots of places off the start, a bit better start than 1st race. Half lap in, had tango with Tim and I found myself near the back.
Again it was fun getting back to the top again. No idea how I finished 2nd again. There was 2 drivers that pitted very very late so had no idea if I was going to finish 4th or 2nd.

Poor Dan M had had many drivers pile into him race 2 Big Grin

Like I say we made it too easy for KP Big Grin.

I know a few reported a big pause at end of race 1. But I was having half second pauses a lot dueing the quallify and races. Each time I was loose time. No idea what up there. I'm still on DX9 as DX11 is still laggy for me.
CU at next track.

Actually it was race 1 as I recall. Amazing that the car had minor damage only and was driveable! Missing from your video is the 2nd time I was run into later that lap. That really put the whammy on and I was barely able to make it to the pits.

In race 2 I was hit while in 2nd place, but that was only a slight tap that caused no damage but cost me 7 positions...

I will really be glad to see the end of these USF cars.
