Pre-Season Test Race

That was a great race , qually showed there is not a lot between most of the drivers

For me I almost got caught out with the fast changing lights , no way to hold a fast charging ED back , chased him through the midfield and had a nibble going into the infield but ED had me covered , once we got to the main striaght the Ferrari just left me for dead , next lap I managed to get in front on the last corner but ED just breezed passed no way could I live with the Ferrari power even in the draft , all I could do was to push ED as close as I could to try and make him make a mistake , it never came .

A few laps in I could see Eds tyres were sliding so I was all over him through the midfield but again as soon as we hit the striaght he waltzed away from me , if I wanted to get past and stay there I had to do it early in the lap , fortunately my chance came when I lost the backend under braking for turn 1, I went sideways into the corner which put me inside ED and pointing in the right direction , so I got past ,(i wish I could say it was a planned skill moveSmile ) I now pushed hard to get a gap before we got to the main striaght , luckily I did just enough to hold position and then slowly pulled away over the next laps .



I like this mod I found the Brabham a very forgiving car to drive , you could drive it on the wheel the brakes or the gas but you had to watch the tyres , sliding soon raised the temps and made the grip fade , the handling made up for the lack of power but if the Ferrari and Honda guys get a handle on tyre temps its going to struggle

Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

No graphics problems for me, and ran nice and smooth. That said there was one problem that explained my even worse than normal qually time; been using this car and track combo since the 20th century (GPL) so should know my way around.

I tried the sim out a couple of days before in the Lotus 43 and noticed the sound problem. I thought it was just with that car and as I intended to drive the RA300 did not investigate further. I jumped straight into qually and the sound was even worse in the Honda. The engine sound was there on start-up and when stationary but started cutting out when the car was moving. I had the other sound effects but no engine when going at speed. The short warmup before the race gave me the chance to turn sound stuff off and see if that made any difference. It was OK once sound effects where at 0%.

I've not had this problem with any other mod so not sure if it with this mod only or has just started. Will try other mods when I get a chance.

Bruce, a quick check from the 397 forum about a common problem:
For the sound try the following:
Check in your sound settings that the number of channels has not been reset to zero or one. This is a bug with the most recent release. If it is one or less, set the number of channels to 64, exit rF2 and restart the sim. That 'should' fix things.

Sorry I couldn't join you guys for the test race but my internet went completely out. It's been iffy for a while, dropping me out of Wed fun races, but on Sunday morning it went out and would not reconnect. Tech help from my provider said to flash my modem with latest FW and that seems to have gotten me going again. That was only 3 hours ago. Hopefully it will clear up even the sporadic disconnect issues. We'll see...

So are these the cars we're zeroing in on? Holy cow! I trust you smart guys to pick a car and we end up in the pre-wing era!! o_O It's ironic that I joined this league so many years ago specifically because you still raced wingless cars and now after dragging me into the "modern" era I'm afraid of them!! Big Grin But I will persevere!

Everything went ok with the mod for me, it seems better ( drive, sound, graphics) than the S397 (ISI) version of F1 '67/'68.

Hope the Liveracers can return back to figure all our times soon.

Cheers, I noticed it was 1, I set it to 64, but did not leave. So perhaps it will be ok when I start it next.

I give the mod a thumbs up for use in the league. The Kyalami test race was huge fun and very close between the top 3 (2 Brabhams and a Ferrari). Cars seem to have a good balance of performance. I chose the Ferrari and it was fast but quite loose and was hard to handle in the second half of the race. It will be great to see a diverse grid.

Just spoke with boreks, the modder of this f167 legend mod.
I think in next weeks we can update the mod on workshop with car icons

you need to set it to 64 and reboot the sim , should be ok the next time you load it ....i had the same issue

No templates, the author has a reply on his steam worktop page that says-->

Oh what a shame, I was asking for a Ferrari template too.

So we will have a lot of identical cars on races. Hope rF2 is going to solve the (known) Drivers Name Issue and scrolling standings display too. Sad

I am sorry but i cant understand why the modder does not want folks to personalise thier car , it happened in the real world ie blue ferraris , blue brabham , orange brabhams etc etc , in a race you dont have time to read the name on the side its the colours you look for and also in the real world there was mostly only 2 cars of the same colour scheme ontrack at a time as they were mainly 2 car teams .

I can see that the original author might want to preserve the ‘immersion’ and purity of authentic, period liveries - but as you say, in the current climate with labels broken, it’s a disappointment.

Still, I’d rather modders continued to publish high quality mods with annoying restrictions over half-baked tat that end-users can graffiti!Cool

There might not be templates, but nothing stopping you guys from making skins.
In the showroom, click the Create button, create skin dir. button That will make a Alt file that you can edit in photoshop.
Or you can open up the Team.mas of the mod. There are helmet files in there. The helmets are a bit tricky to edit without a template. You save them as SkinNameAlt_HELMET.dds

Will Bruce be making a purple car again this season? Smile

Indeed. I have made skins myself for the Eagle, Honda, BRM and Cooper (all purple, as that's my thing!). However, they did not set up driver suits with the material name that makes them editable, and other parts of the cars sometimes are not set up with the right material either, e.g. the Cooper's mirrors.
