Links in the 2nd post.
I too did not get everything from server. Everything downloaded apart from the Brands Hatch track. Might want to look at that Myles to get the track auto download too.

Are we running fixed setups ? , they are horrendous
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

I wanted to get some early running in with fixed setups to try and evaluate the balance of performance - multi-marque racing becomes a bit pointless if there’s an outlier vehicle in the field as everyone just gravitates to the fastest car.
i felt that if we went straight to free setup, it might mask (or flatter) the true performance of certain vehicles.
I thought the setups were surprisingly good out of the box - certainly pretty similar across the three vehicles (hopefully that doesn’t mean they’re identical under the skin apart from weight and power variations) Takes a lap to warm up and you do need to turn them in early…
So, I guess the question is when is the right time to unlock the setups? Answers on a postcard, please?
(I’m still working on slimming down the distributable files of the other vehicles in the series, by the way - Sierra Cosworth, M3, Rover SD1, BMW635)…

Live timing only displaying Volvo laptimes

I’ll try to fiddle later.

I vote for fixed setups as it helps to level the playing field

My general feeling is that they are quite a blunt leveller though. They might stop Gurus romping away with their setup tricks - but if you don’t have the skills to drive around whatever foibles you’re dealt, they can be equally frustrating to less experienced drivers and lead to some bad driving habits forming.
Beyond this initial exploration of the TCR/TCL cars, I think the better approach - in fun series at any rate (championships are a different kettle of fish) - is to do what a couple of front runners have done recently and to share their setups online.

My impressions: Volvo is fairly close to Nissan in performance but Nissan is a pig to drive. Holden is easy to drive and much faster than either Nissan or Volvo.

I tried these cars, but do not like them very much (personal opinion, no offense!)
I came across this very attractive DTM 1991 mod however. Maybe something for a futures series?

https://tpongracz.com/shop/rf2-dtm-1991-season-pass/ To be fair the setup on these cars pretty much destroys the handling , with a decent setup i think they would be very different to drive , with RF2 poor tyre model any car running greater pressures than 100-105 is going to be a pig to drive , the Lola 290 tyres originally could be dropped to 100 and made them fantastic fun to drive , i am hopeing the creater of the M1 mod wakes up to this and allows us to drop the tyre pressure as i think this would be a fantastic car for racing ,
The 190e is available in the workshop and is a really nice car to throw around a circuit

I think a general feeling is developing that we could do better than the three cars we have for tonight. I’ve spent quite a few hours trying to slim down the distributable files for the other cars in the series with limited success and some frustration…!
I suggest we give it a go as-is tonight - partly as it’s a PITA if people arrive late only to find they need a new download and then we can maybe try the 190s for next week… Which might open up Vallelunga a week or so later

M1, you mean BMW. That one is done by ODS (Ratus does know these guys, I think)

Indeed the 190e is a free download from this DTM mod. I think 15 euro for the complete package is not unfair.

Well, last night was interesting!
It was good to see all three car-types out on track in the first race - but the pace of the Holden became apparent and (with the possible exception of Giorgio - in the Nissan?) I gave up on the Volvo for race 2 onwards.
Quite a few incidents through the evening, but no obvious toys out of the pram - which I hope reflects on both the acceptance that ‘these things happen’ as well as the knowledge that the next race is just a few minutes away.
Everyone seemed to get on with the fixed default setups ok - but they didn’t guarantee tight racing and I don’t plan to make them a future feature - unless, as was the case this week, we ‘needed’ to find out how the cars stack up against each other.
We’ll give the 190e a shot next - the full DTM mod might look interesting but we don’t generally want people to need paid content to race. The only (rare) exceptions tend to be for official tracks that most people will have invested in anyway.
The server is already up but, as usual, I don’t plan to finalise the track choice until the weekend. We‘ll definitely race Vallelunga one of these days - but might start the 190e’s off somewhere a bit more flowing. Feedback on a postcard before Saturday, please!

Yes, I was on the Nissan, can't resist to the classic Skyline. It was a nice turnout with some "action" aswell.
For the next one I'll prefer to go in Vallelunga as it is kind of my hometown race track. It is the nearest International circuit to Rome.
See you soon on track!

I enjoyed last night even though I seem to spend a lot of time crashing into People, sorry Mr Cruickshank.

If I'm well informed Tommy78 will give discounts when the DTM mod is gonna be used in a community/leage. It might be interesting to see what is possible?
I do have the whole DTM package myself and the other cars (especially the M3EVO) are also very good. I can understand the point of not using paid content, but exceptions make the rule, don't they??
