Was just about to write a small report Wink

I haven't had a ton of practice yet with the mod, but I was way off-pace. Guess I wasn't the only one; Ed and DJ were 3+ seconds ahead of the rest in their Ferrari's!

I am still having love-hate affair with the Ligier, but things are slowly getting better.

First race I had a good start and was up into 5th by T1. After a few laps chasing Gorka I had a small spin and nudged the front wing against the wall. It was only light blue in the damage HUD, and the pit menu said no repairs were necessary/possible. I don't know if it was the damage or the tyres being outside their operating window, but from that point on I struggled like crazy. I also ran on the hard tyres, which turned out to be a mistake. After skating on an ice rink for a few laps I crashed and lost a wheel. Not a good start Smile

The second race with random starting grid put me on pole. That was neat! I quickly had DJ and Ed on my tail, and despite still being ~2s a lap slower than their best lap times, I managed to keep them behind (initially). I could see where the Ferrari's were a lot quicker, most notably under braking, slightly higher top speed and through the Degner curves. As I'm still learning about the car and it's a test race, I tried to experiment with the lines and hopping the curbs, but that caused me to go wide out of Degner (2) , and I lost the position to DJ.

I kept Ed behind for a while, until I had another slight off out of the spoon curve when I counter steered a bit too much. Later on Ed also made a mistake entering the spoon curve, and I was back in P2. I had another off in the hairpin when I outbraked myself. These brakes are tricky!
Ed and I had another great fight and a very exciting moment going into 130R, but I kept the position, and P2 over the line. That was great stuff.

I can't really say all that much about the cars, as I haven't driven them a great deal yet.
The brakes are tricky, especially when the tyres start to wear.
Slow speed corners are very difficult, as even a tiny bit of throttle makes the rear go mental.
Looking at the replay, I can see Ed sliding that Ferrari around like a mad man. Currently I am try to avoid sliding them too much, besides gently kicking the tail out on corner entry by going off-throttle.
There is still a huge amount of understeer or rather 4 wheel slides when I hit the throttle. The whole car just really pushes wide, and I haven't been able to get the hang of the corner exits yet.

For now the best driving style (in the current state of the setup) is using the off throttle to steer the car into the corner, keep momentum with a small amount of throttle, and then only accelerate once I'm really at the exit. Going on the throttle too early is immediately punished by sliding wide.

The hard tyres are pointless, the softs in the second race were much much better, despite heavy wear.

Apologies from me, couldn't make this one. Slept through the alarmSad and way to late to bed.

Like Gorka has already said please give your feedback here, it's massively important to the season.

Again Tygernoot setting the reporting standard. Great stuff.

I use headphones, I can tell you the engine noise of the Ferrari is annoying me, it has a crackle to it that is not an an engine note but an error in the sound file.

Nothing I can do with the setup will get the tyres to run anything other than hot.

I was hit twice in the 1st race before the end of lap 2. 1st from the right on my right front wheel and 2nd from the left on my left front wheel. The car immediately had not the best handling and after I touched the fence (hot tyres spinning on exiting a corner) the handling was too bad to continue due to the tyres getting so hot and the car being uncontrollable because the diving around (busted front linkages?) was making the tyres over heat even more and car handling even worse..

No idea if any of the other cars are any better. Thing I know for sure, my partner in crime will want to drive the Ferrari.

I want Mr P Mills (co-pilot in Dirt Rally 2) to describe my corners for me if we're not going to have brake markers!

I also experienced disappearing and reappearing every car in front of me.

My setup was hard tyres in front and soft at the rear and works find for the race, I m not particularly fast, you know, but the Williams is a nice car to drive despite been this cars a bit too fast for me. This vehicle ask for a very low ride and very hard suspension. I raced with 4/9 wings and was good for constant 1.59 -2 min lap and lasting 15 laps easily (the tyres I mean).

On race 1, started at the tail and by lap 9, I was in P6 despite two little off roads, but in the second off track got a stop&go penalty, and when exiting Spoon click on the wrong button to enter pits, put car on neutral, engage 1ts gear at 150 km/h and blow up the engine, ja ja.

Quit Race 2 because I was short of time.

Many thanks to the organizers.

See you all at Road America,

Hi Rafael, we're using rFactor2 which can now be found at Steam -> https://store.steampowered.com/app/365960/rFactor_2/

We are about to start in a few weeks a new season based on the 1979 F1 cars -> https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f...=954478466

There's a big difference in car handling depending on which one you use.
The Alfa doesn't even have an adjustable front wing which is always at its lowest grip position which casues it to be very understeery, which means having to balance it with mechanical grip and throttle steering. Car is slow but I have lots of fun in it.

Did anybody pick Fittipaldi so far? Smile

I would like to drive it, I know it is not a car to win but I do have a special feeling for that since I know the history of Fittipaldi“s team, those guys really struggle to have it in F1 and considering all the hard work they were really successful.

I will have fun in the back of the grid Smile.... alone Big Grin

1- you can drive any car you like with any skin you do but pick a high number over 25 to start.
2- you will not be alone that is for sure.

I did a few laps in these cars but still Sundays are not a good day to race for me.. Every other two weeks I work on Sundays, and the other week I work really, really early monday morning Big Grin But if I get the chance I will be there and race with you guys.. Just need some practice so that I'm not totally lost. But once again there is a mod that is quite difficult to get up to speed with. I don't really understand the cars.

I had a lookd on liveracers to get an idea how my pace was, and I was like 4-5 seconds off. And after quite a lot of setup work I was still 1 second off the fastest lap Big Grin I don't really understand these cars but sure the default setup is crappy. I'm also pretty sure rfactor/this mod can't simulate ground effect, but it seems they have to be driven that way (try to have as high corner speed as possible, don't care about the corner exit)..

Also, one thing that is annoying with this mod is that the seat position is prettty much locked. I like to move the seat forward so that just a bit of the dash is visible. Now I have to see the whole cockpit on the screen, and then I have my own wheel which makes it look like there are two cockpits in front of me Big Grin

See you on track soon hopefully
