SR4L Fun Race Sebring 24 hr time scaled
#81
Could be a good option. Hopefully it's not a problem in future races. Let see :-\

The race was hard work but enjoyable for me , i had a good start from 10th and avoided the carnage and was in 3rd by the 3rd corner after that all my problems were my own caused by losses in concentration , that is something i am going to have to work on on , this car is very unforgiving with daydreamers , i managed to scrape home 6th with someone breathing hard down my neck.

Big thanks to Bryan and Paul for a well organised event
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

No need to disable chat, this was a situation where a significant amount of people expected a restart, when it didn't happen some called for one imagining that maybe the dude running the server was unaware for some reason that there was carnage at the start. No need to throw out the baby with the bath water. Just make it clear that your policy here is no restarts for any reason when you advertise these public events. This is a policy I was unaware of until yesterday.

I think we behave more or less, it should be stressed more when we do open races, I think we forgot to mention no chat at quali and race yesterday at non members.
Also we should make it clear there are no restarts at race days.

It was mentioned, but most of those comments were heat of the moment, like I say it is more important to make clear the policy of no restarts and maybe lighten up a little for fun races? It's fine to be all business for closed league races but I thought the idea of open fun races was to be a little more relaxed and have...fun. Smile

If chat is disabled, will there still be a warning for lights?

The chat won't be disabled unless it becomes a problem.

Even though I had a clear track in front of me after the start, it still wasn't going to be an easy one for me.
I was very happy with my qualifying lap as it was my first .57 with this car at Sebring, considering I had average fps but major stutters (something with this car as I don't have it that much with other cars), not trusting my brake pedal and every now and then the double-downshifts. (shifts are now temp. fixed with the repeat shifts line in player.plr (thanks Mike P.))

At start I was lucky not to get hit by Johnny bouncing off the wall. Chased by DjC, the gap never became bigger than 8 seconds, at some points with lappers it got down to 2 seconds but I was able to get away again but still taking it very easy. I thought David would get into his rythm as the race progressed but he too seemed cautious (or just plain slow because of his birthday-hangover Tongue Smile ) and never became a real threat.

So I think it's time to get in contact with Logitech, hoping it won't get messy :Smile Wink

Marcel if the pots on your pedals are giving varying outputs its because they are dirty , get a spray tin of electrical contact cleaner , remove the pots and flush them with the cleaner , they should then work fine until they get dirty again or better still get one of these http://www.apelectrix.com/ (on second thoughts if it makes you faster then dont)

I used one of those pot cleaners spray for the Saitek throttle levers' pots (for Flight Simulator), it really helped reducing those spikes.

I use one and it allows you to modulate the brakes better, its also a lot cheaper than a set of fanatec pedals

Is it worth it DC?

What are those load cells?

Rather than a a variable potentiometer which measures how far you have pressed the pedal a load cell measures how hard you have pressed it, so it feels and acts more like a real brake pedal

It took me a couple of months to get a good feel for it but I would not go back now.

I think so , on a car that is badly balanced under braking its easier to hold it under control as the brake modulation is more precise , but , as Fergy says you need to change the way you brake .
Its easier to find the lockup point of the brakes and hold them on max without locking , its just that the pedal feels a bit dead when you first use it because there is so little travel in comparison to a normal pedal.

ive used the ap load cell for about a year now It is WAY better than the stock brake. For me I perfer a very stiff pedal so I put both spacers thingies in for a better feel. I since have purchased the perfect pedal and have been using that for a week now (hydraulic pedal) I love this pedal but understand it is out of the price range for many of you so the AP load sell for the price is the BEST upgrade you could do to your pedal bar none. The perfect pedal is in a different league because of price but the feel is better than the load cell.. hope this helps...
