BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 6 - BRIANZA - REPORTS
#1
Pretty good couple of races for me. P4 in both. Good clean racing around me with Shannon, Dan M, Gorka, Dan B too I think. How great that we got thru 2 Monza starts without a big pile up on lap 1! Well done all!

That said, exiting Lesmo 2 in race one lap one, the red car in front of me suddenly jolted off to the right. I was trailing pretty close and hope a lag error didn't cause me to bump you. I felt nothing and think I had 2-3 ft of gap. Sorry to you either way.

Also, have question. What determines the length of a pit stop? Mine were 60 and 61 sec taking fuel for 9 laps. In the second race Shannon pulled into pit about one second behind me but exited about 6 or 8 seconds before me! Does the game add in some randomness to the pit stop time? I had no damage.

Edit: Looking at the replay I see that it was Ricky Keene that got squirrelly in front of me without me touching him. Like he got back on the throttle just a little to fast.

And I take back what I said about no plie-ups on lap one. Race one had a big one deeper in the field between Ascari and Parabolica.

I only took 8 laps of fuel during that pit stop. I'm guessing it's about 7 seconds per lap of fuel to refuel.
When in doubt, pass out.

If you check carstat there appears to be a variable up to a max of 7 secs
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

I was feeling pretty confident going into the weekend because I had an "a-ha" car setup moment. The car felt GREAT.

Qualied 7th. I was a little alarmed by the green-ness of the course.

Race 1 I drove like a baby the first half of the race due to the green-ness of the course. No mishaps. Didn't kill or be killed. Placed 7th. I THOUGHT I'd do a little better, but a good finish.

Race 2 I drove a little more aggressively and had some good battling with Rick and Tim. Tim, you were NOT slowing me down in the slightest. I couldn't get quite far enough ahead of you to comfortably tuck in front and make the next turn. I suppose I could have divebombed you, but that's not how I roll Smile I was bummed when you had your mishap -- I was looking forward to riding your ass all 20 laps. Rick was gaining 1/10s on me every sector so I didn't push too hard to try to catch up. I hoped that my light refueling would put me in front of him. Which paid off Smile

Came out of the pits in 5th or 6th and before I knew it I was in 3rd. I just tried to hold it together and not choke for the duration of the race while Rick was chipping 1/10s off a mere 6 seconds behind. Almost blew one of the turns out the last lap, but rescued it and crossed the line in 3rd. Heart attack city Smile

GREAT start by everyone. No carnage to speak of. Damn, we're getting good
When in doubt, pass out.

my qual lap was bad so I started 12th but race 1 some guys went off in front of us so ended 9th happy happy.
Race two started 2nd was doing good racing Shannon and I must say quite the gentleman backing off in corners when he could not get in front instead of forcing the issue well done sir. My mishap was weird I hot my brakes the same as every other lap and the car did some bizarre left turn and into fence not sure why but I was able to pit and stay in 7th. Fun race.

Having done so little practice looks like my car setup was good for qualifying but not for the race.
Able to make the fastest lap, most probably because of the lack of grip on the green track, but that green track made for a very difficult car to drive with all the fuel, causing me to really struggle for the first half of the race.

I was also having problems with my H shifter. Sometimes first gear turns into third, and what caused me a lot of trouble yesterday, second gear sometimes disengages then suddenly engages again. That caused me a big sideways moment on race 1 in Lesmo 1.
Also, at race 2 start 2nd gear wouldn't engange for a couple of seconds, that caused many cars to overtake me at the straight. Later at Parabolica the 2nd gear disengaged on the braking then suddenly engaged at the entry of the corner causing another major oversteer moment.
That was the beginning of the end of my race.
That situation helped the car behind me to get close to me and get behind my slipstream and go for the inside before turn 1 Curva Grande. I tried to give enough room, but maybe it wasn't as we kissed tires. I was thrown straight into the wall getting my left front ripped and being the end of my race.

I think I'll miss Montecarlo, won't have time to try to fix the H-shifter this week and you can't join Montecarlo with almost no practices as in Brianza.

First race, best not talked about. Crashed into someone on first lap (sorry could not stop in time). Pitted for repairs. On leaving pit touched Armco on the Big Curve, and got stuck to it. End of race. Second race, avoided crashes pitted half way through no problem, but crashed near end of race and lost a wheel. Managed to get back to pits. Race finished while I was getting repairs so skipped repairs and finished on 3 wheels.

Ricky Keene, Sincere Apology! Coming out of parabolica I was on the inside where I'm guessing there was no rubber down, lost the back end then into the armco then into you, Sorry you were a victim of my ambition.
