It's a month to the end of the season. In SimRacers4Life we don't want to spend a single weekend without racing. That's why we are starting asking you drivers to choose the pack of cars you want to aim for racing next league.
The idea is simple, vote for your favourite pack. When the poll ends a new poll will be created so you can choose which among the winning pack you choose to race next season.
New car/packs sugestions are welcomed (remember to keep it classic) and everyone is invited to discuss and change their vote as much as they want before the poll ends.
Nice voting.

Mh, mh, the number of choices is fairly low and there are some cars in there which we already raced with. Unfortunately the classic mods for rf2 are not too many and there is no real development going on in that direction. There is no '79 F1 mod, no '82 F1 mod, things I enjyoed to drive on rf1.
The only one that comes up are the F1 classics from the early 90's. There seem to be two of them, dunno the difference

Has any one tried one of these? I know, these are modern classics, not ancient classics, but hey.
On the Howston G4/G6/Dissenter, this could be really great, but we definitely should include some Ovals if we decide to use this.

Personally i would like the F3 again , we have not run a season with these since the very first one , everytime we run a fun event with them we get good attendance and everyone is says how much fun they had . I know some of you guys race at BB but a few of us dont so we miss them .
As these are small cars they can be run on narrow tracks , i would think these would give very intense racing at a track like Targa , imagine 20+ fighting each other around there , that would be a hoot .
There is also the Spark v Eve element which adds another fun aspect
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

If those ASR Formula are the ones we tested a while ago, they suffered what we thought to be a problem in handling. When at the limit of the car in a corner, if you started to get understeer and pushed the wheel harder to the inside of the corner.... instead of increassing the understeer you got a sudden extra grip at the front. A ver wierd handling.
Wim (Navigator) did a very good job in working with the engine performances in those cars.

I sometimes thought a combined league could be a nice idea. Doing 3x20min races (as in the old days) doing a first race with the F3. As cars finished they were placed in the grid for the F2 and the same would go for the F1.
But that would be a little complicated and would demand people more practice time to practice the 3 cars.
Idea forgotten.

To my surprise I grew very fond of the T70 and by the end of the Nords fun race was loving the car. Not sure if it was just particularly well suited to Nords and if it would be terrible on tracks like Zandvoort and Mosport but it was enormously fun to drive, Granny style.

Yes the T70 is worth a lot more attention.

Pls not the 90's F1's I think they all have really bad physics.. But otherwise good suggestions. The F5000 looks fun but we need to test it. T70 is great, difficult but rewarding when you learn to drive it. F3 will most probably be popular.. Birtwell is running them but not as a league so I guess we could do that.

The Howston Group 4 and Group 6 cars are different from each other, and each of them has about four slightly different configurations, simulating changes over the years when the T70s were made. Leagues typically use the configuration with the most power and widest tires. I suggest we look at some of the other configurations.
I'm very curious to test the 1969 F5000 cars and see how their times compare to other cars we've used. HSO made an outstanding rF1 mod of the 1972 F5000, with a wide choice of cars and liveries and a variety of physics. It would make a fine addition to rF2.

I m a fan on ST Dave mods on rf1, like the 1976-78 F2, a lovely but unfinished CanAm and the F5000 mod. If he moves to RF2, we can expect great things to come on classics racing cars.
Already downloaded F5000 and made a few laps, engine sound is lovely, cars drive good, they are beasts but not like Eve F1. Dont like the poor steering wheel/arms animation, many models that behave different, some hard, some easy. Worth a try.

Keep on testing them, so we can consider them as candidates for this coming summer league.

I agree. The first version of G6 with the low powered engine and no wings are one of the most fun to drive and I tried to convince USR league to use it It is easy too, compared to the T70 we drove at Nords recently..

One solution could be to test them, and then choose the best one for everyone to use, or 2-3 different cars that are somewhat equal. Steering wheel/arm animation is no concern for me because I have them hidden while driving (why would you like to see four arms and 2 wheels? your own and the virtual ones? lol ). But for replay these cars don't look very nice.. They could need some better textures. Especially engine and exhaust.

I gave it a run too, I agree with the comments above. For me, I think it still needs work for it to be ready for a League season, but very worth keeping an eye on it's progress for a future season.

I took the McLaren M10A around Mosport for a while and got down to historically accurate times which makes it quicker than the BT20, Eve/Spark F1s, and every Howston except the Group 6 Mark IIIb. It seemed to respond to setup changes, but was brutal on tires. The sound is a symphony of big block V8. 8) I'm curious of they're using the latest tire model. It doesn't feel like it to me, but what do I know! Graphics could use some updates. Nice variety of chassis. I haven't tried to compare them yet to see if they're truly different from each other. Some of the cars have more showroom options than others, esp. gearbox having three choices. For League use we might want to restrict to cars with no showroom options such as the M10A.
