T290 season tracks
#41
Jeez, another 2 hour race. I can endure 1 hour anywhere, and might could handle 2 one hour races with 15 min break. But I did not enjoy the aches and pains of the 2 hour format. I may sit the next one out. No hard feelings, you in-shape (younger) boys have at it.

Only regret is that it is Sebring. A track I have a fond connection to.

P.S. I see that that is a suggested schedule so we'll see what pans out... But my sentiment is the same.

I think that the Sebring historial schedule (at least around 1961) start at 10 am, finishing at 10 pm. This make more daylight racing than night.

Yeah Sebring don't need to be a 2 hour race? It could be 1 hour, with x12 time acceleration to simulate the real thing. And Nords can be 2 30-min races like Gorka said. Actually I would prefer to keep the races as short as possible, only because I like action and the field tend to spread out too much when we do longer races. Targa could be 2 laps, that would make it 1 hour 20 minutes something (?). Not 2 hours.

Like Tim, I thank Dave for thinking of us, but I also agree that the vote was taken so that part is a done deal. those that do not like a certain track will have to decide weather to attend or not.. but we will never satisfy everyone and we shouldn't change it after the vote is closed, that will only open it up to endless back and fourth. so, that means Tracks Are Set!
next Gorka is/has done a great job trying to put his finger on the pulse of what we as a group want. I commend him for all of his efforts. I think he wants our feedback and will try to steer the ship in the direction he thinks we want to go. so, in that light:
I prefer One hour to be our longest race!
I agree that should be sebring and that it should be a day to night transition, with 10 am to 10 pm accelerated to fit into one hour and our last race of the season.
I also agree with the rest of the schedule as proposed.
everybody - SPEAK NOW or live with it!
Thanks Again Gorka for all you do, it is Much Appreciated and Needed! Wink

If Sebring was a 2 hour race would that be the point to try driver swop and do the race as a team , that way each driver does 1 hour
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

I used to race 2 hours events (one per year) but, been now a 63 year old driver, better to slow down, the last race at the Ring was very hard to me (very hot summer in Lima, starting this year 2016).

My preferences goes to a 1 hour Sebring race and a 2 laps Targa Florio (35-40 min per lap) instead of a single 2 hour race.

a 1 hour race at Sebring is a good idea.
We can, during the season, try a 2 hour fun race using driver swapping in Sebring/Le Mans/whatever track we like. Smile

I'd like to propose a good ordering of the tracks but there are some I've never race. If I can give them a quick test today I can make my proposal.

Do you have a valid Link for Zandvoort?. The one I've found gives a verifying error when trying to install.

It might not be an error, I have verifying errors and no way to join the server at the moment.

I guess it's the v0.85 you trying? I try this too and have get same error. I try with old version of rfactor2 and it installs and runs fine. My guess maybe ISI has blocked it with it being an illegal conversion from 'SimRaceWay's' game.

At Harri, that is something different. Paul needs to restart server because match-maker did a wobble the other day.

DJ, do you know the number of an older version of Zandvoort, that would help me find it.

For what I've tested I think Bathurst could be a great track to start the season. It's a new track, it's got a couple of very long straights, good for overtaking, it also looks great.

We could, if you like, start next week driving a fun event there and the following week could be de official start to the season.

That could leave the calendar this way:
February 7th - Bathhurst - 2x30
February 21st - Mid-Ohio - 2x30
March 6th - Zandvoort - 2x30
March 20th - Targa Florio - single lap time attack/2 lap race (whatever you preffer)
April 3rd - Mosport - 2x30
April 17th - Nordschleife - 2x30
May 1st - Belgium (Classic) 2x30
May 15th - Sebring - 1 hour

An old version of rFactor2, not the track I said. 9 People voted for the track, we have to ask them, I do not know sorry.
One thing I have found, copying the track folder from the locations folder from my old version of rFactor to my current version lets me load and play it.

Nice list of track Gorka, thanks for all the work you doing,
cheers.

David, you had it already installed or did you just install it now?
We need to check wether this version of Zandvoort could be incompatible if not yet installed in a previous build of Rfactor2.
If that was the case we should find a replacement (next ones the reserve list are Road America and Toban Raceway, both with 8 votes)
