Matra performance questions (test version available)
#1
Hi guys,

I'm working on an update for the Matra. It's "Klaasvh's" mod and I had contact with him about it; "good idea, go ahead" he said.
So, I'm working on it and it's going to have a flex chassis and new contact patch tires. Already in there by now, but finetuning.

However; for this to become a bigger succes, it needs to match the EVE car.
Now I can ask on the ISI forum, but I want to be quite about it, make it and stuff it in there.

So I wanted to ask here;
- is the Matra indeed slower than EVE?
- how much?
- why; power/handling/acceleration/grip?

I wanted to test it out myself, but due to some serious health issues, I can't anymore. The 5 laps I do drive; I'm faster with the Matra......so thats no good.

So if you have info on this; please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Matra performance questions.

All I remember and I told wim about it was that fast guys said that matra was not as fast as Eve.
Was that handling?
Was that power?
Please give feedback on this gents so he knows where to work on.

Re: Matra performance questions.

I tested the EVE F1 & The EVE F1 Matra, both same configuration: no front wing, yes rear wing.
Tested using same setup for both at Brianza.
Result: 0.034 faster in the Matra, which is certainly within the margin of error for this driver. More laps might change this.
BTW, same top speed for both.
I wonder if AI can be used to test this? Maybe Wim knows if the AI are equal for both mods.

Re: Matra performance questions.

Tanks for responding guys.

This is something that can't be tested with AI sadly; they have different tires and don't use the new contact patch ones also.
Setup is the same for both cars, be it that the Matra says it does fewer laps with it's fuel, but that's because of the fact it is less fuel efficient.

So if anyone wants to do some (more) laps; please do so Wink

Re: Matra performance questions.

I wish I could.
At the moment, today, I've had the first session with the physiotherapist. So I'll keep taking good care of my right hand.

Re: Matra performance questions.

What you got with your hand Gorgias, got injured?

The new tires are done (could have build me a real Matra spending less time) and now tuning performance.
Going to ask here for testing when (almost) done because it needs more than 3 or 4 laps at the time.

Anyway; there is progress Smile

Re: Matra performance questions.

Having some issues in the base of my thumb that annoy me when using it. Not carpal sindrome as syntoms differ. At the moment I'm having some phyisiotherapy to see if it helps (the traumatologist suggested it as he saw the joint was a little bit wasted).
We computer programmers..... being all day sat, holding bad postures, having stress not relieved.... not good for health.

Im at the same boat, sitting or driving for so many years and hoping that some day Ill start again jogging after work. It never happened.

Instead, I finally decided to walk to work, at least at the last section, so Im walking for the last two years to and from work, I walk 3 quarters of an hour to and 3 quarters back, thats 7km everyday except when its raining or I have something terribly importand to do. I calculate I have walked 2500km since I started two years back more or less.

Leave the car at a distance from work guys, it really makes miracles to your health.

Re: Matra performance questions.

That's nice Niko.

4 days a week at lunch time I go to the sports center next to my office, do some 20 minute weight traning and then 25 minute running. But I know that can't compensate the more than 8 hours sat in front of a computer (or an architect desk Wink )
Human body is biologicaly made to be phisically active and our modern jobs can't help all that energy/hormones inside to be burned.... therefore all the many anxiety/depressions/stress/back injuries appear

Re: Matra performance questions.

Where can we download this car then we can try it
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

Re: Matra performance questions.

I think you mean the updated version Deecee?

Nikos hasn't got that either, I think he presumes the published one, the older one.

I would love for you -and others- to test it; the more the merrier because I really want it to get exactly as fast as the EVE.
However; allow me to take the bigger "errors" out, so when that's done, it should be minor things. As for now; it is a second slower and no use in testing it already. Need to make the 1 second step first.

So, I will upload it when thats done and I hope you are willing to test it.
I will upload in this topic somewhere this week.

1 second slower then old Matra or Eve Nav?
imho cars with new cpm are slower so if you haven't thought of it yet give the Eve the same (new cpm) tires and then compare......

just my thought when bumping in here.....hope you'le xcuse me :o

Re: Matra performance questions.

One second slower than both Smile

Good idea, but it has no use fitting the new tire on the Eve because it has to compare with the stock (ISI) one; Eve without- Matra with new tires........

Untill ISI decides to update the Eve with new tires, than I can start all over again Wink

Finally, the test version is done.
Hopefully there are no big errors anymore, but you have to excuse me if so; I can't (and thus haven't) driven it for to long.

Changelog:
- added flex chassis
- HDV changes to go with the flex chassis
- made new contact patch tires (only! for dry tires for now)
- changed the character of the engine; power or torque are not changed by more than 1%, but the back torque, fuel pickup, throttle response have been changed significantly; the engine should feel more alive/responsive.

A little story; I tried to keep the grip degradation of these tires about the same as the old ones, but with the "benefits" of the newer.
As they degrade, the balance of the car shifts more or less back and forth. (Of course depending on driving style and degradation to go with it)
Steering with the back end (as was more possible with the EVE) is now more possible with the Matra too, but due to balance shifting from tire degradation; not always in the same way. The more responsive engine, should "help" you. Wink

Still, as Klaas wanted, the Matra picks up just a bit slower than the EVE and has more rpm. Now, because of the changes to the engine, it has a bit more topspeed to compensate the slower acceleration.
I hope its okay, because I was not able to test that one fully.

To install; please remove the 1.0 version of the EVE_MATRA_F1. This was a Multi rfcmp and thus you have to go down all the way in the installer screen.
This version is a normal rfcmp and will be visible under "vehicles" and act the same as the original version. You won't see the sound package installed for instance, but its there, no problem.
It is called: "EVE_MATRA_F1_V1.1".

So, if "you guys" would help me out here, please test it and let me know what you think. I'm under no illusion its perfect yet, so don't spare me; you won't hear me cry as I'm to far away Wink

One other thing; its not on the ISI forums yet. I want to do that when its finished; please keep it that way Wink

Thanks for testing in advance!
