I thought weight penalties could as easy as changing a parameter on the server to the driver.
If it isn't the case then it'd be time to forget about it.
Update: I read this:
WelcomePlugin v1.3
-- Changes in v1.3 -- build by Gerald Jacobson
- Add a WecomePlugin.ini file to put in the data profile directory
- Allows you to set mass for given driver as soon as they join the server
Here an example to set the mass penality to 52kg for Gerald Jacobson
Code:
[Gerald Jacobson]
mass=52

A few reasons;
- I always said I would help out with this
- I felt like doing a project anyway
- How will you guys choose between: car a, car b and car "a little bit of this and a little bit of that, that might drive something like....." ?
Anyway, the first version is done.
There are a few things different and I wanted to ask you guys how you feel about it:
- the 91 is a 7 speed, the 92 is a 6 speed; I kept 6 for now, do you want it to be a 7?
- the power of the 91 is lower but the car has less downforce; I drove about 5 seconds slower with this version I "made" than with the original 92; do you want that changed?
- this car has anti-stall; keep it in or throw it out?
I can't remember if the 91 had anti stall or if it was something I did by accident?
Anyway; here is the mod, just for the Benetton, to try out.
Please uninstall the 1.7 version (or whatever version you have) and than install this one. (No need to delete)
Please change the gear settings manually for now; I'm still calculating the bastard.

EDIT:
Just read Gorgias' post. I did not know that Gorgias; that would be a perfect solution!

Going to give it a test.
I prefer to keep it with 6 gears, and a little bit slower (i think they were overpowered or had way too much downforce lapping too fast laptimes)
I also prefer to have the anti-stall. In case we raced it, better avoid abandom races because of a simple stall.

First impressions:
Things feel better in general but there are a couple of things that need a little of adjustment.
- FFB seems too high, I have to make a very big effort to turn the wheel, as if driving without power steering.
- The front mecanical grip behaves in a way that when I release the brakes front grip gets a very high reduction. If I'm in the middle of a corner, when I approach kissing the brakes car has nice front grip. The moment I get to the apex and fully release the brakes I get a sudden front grip reduction, having trouble to get the power and runing a little wide off the curve. If I go and apply a little brake at the apex or turn exit front grip gets back (strong enough to spin). It's a kind of a strange feeling.

Did you have that feeling with the 91 version too?
Because I can't think of a thing that should cause that; I just used the files from the 91 but could have made a mistake somewhere.
I look into it!

Well, just checked the telemetry. The rears were locking that was the reason why the car wanted to turn more with brakes on, had to move brake balance forward (like 58 or so).
What I feel now is a loss in front grip, mainly at medium-slower corners causing front tires to overheat and wear very quickly.
Also the car feels to have less drag getting a lot faster in top speed. Rear grip looks higher and it's more difficult to bring it out of balance, maybe that is the reason why the car has become quite understeery at turn exit.

Don't get me wrong, but I'm trying to understand if I have to change things, if I have to look for a mistake or whatever it can be.
As I recall; the 92 mod had 22/22 wings by default while the 91 has 20/8.
The drag is less, that's right. But the power is a lot less either.
I can work it to a certain power/drag level; tell me what it should be and I manage.
Also; what the balance should be in wings?

It-s curious that having the same engine settings and wing settings the feeling is different. The 91 was very easy to lose the rear at lower speeds while this mixed version feels a lot more controlable.
If I had to focus in one point at the moment I'd look into checking why it feels quite understeery at turn exit (even softening at max the front anti-roll bar and getting max front wing)

For what the torque at the wheel; did you maybe set the steering to 0,7 for the old mod and forgot about that for this new one?
The torque setting in the files, is even less with the 91 (and so the mixed) cars; I have no clue at this point.
The wing settings are a bit weird; at low wing; the front has more downforce while at max, the rear has more.
Did you test at different tracks maybe with the 2 mods?
Anyway; I made a newer version with a bit more drag and changed the front wing.
I tested at Seabring and would advise 18/8 wing settings for this. Also you may want to use the 58/42 brake balance as you said.
I'm getting the feeling there's a long way to go still.........can't imagine why as it should feel the same

I'll test the car tonight.
Btw, when you talk about the "91 version" which one is that?

Forgot to post the "new" mod: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1331...2_V6.rfcmp
When I say the 91 mod; I mean the original. Also with the 92. The mixed mod, I will call as such or call it the "new" one.

Nicos, maybe a poll could be necessary with different posibilities. Can the first post be edited and the poll added?.

Guys something to bear in mind , running the F1 cost SR4l a lot of members i think , a lot of the old faces seemed to disappear at that time . Inorder to attract new guys and hopefully pull back some of the old ones , whatever car we choose should not be too difficult to drive competitively .
I have enjoyed the Brabhams but i think they may have had a similar effect , look at how many guys are registered for the championship and then how many have done more than 2 races , big difference , we need a car that keeps people interested , if drivers are 10secs a lap behind the faster guys they give up .
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

Ill always be 10secs a lap behind you DC and Ill still enjoy it.
What are you actually proposing?
I admit '92 mod is difficult for me, its very intense for my stamina, I would prefer I wouldnt drive such a stress thing.
Then I remember when we did F3s, I never expected I could handle a Brabham. (..well..I still cant)
