Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

But its still very popular , it draws more and more riders every year , sadly the ones who die are usually new racers who push too hard too soon before they know the track or the public on mad Sunday when the speed limits are open on the Mountain part of the circuit .
My eldest goes every year , he has never been on a bike and has no desire to , he just enjoys the racing and the atmosphere which is very much like car racing in the 60s . They even have an electric bike race now . the whole island is geared up to bikes for the TT fortnight , its the ultimate bike fest , every marque from every decade is ridden there , the oldest rider last year was in his 80s http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-i...n-22201823 A lot of residents hire their house out and go away on holiday paid for by their guests , it brings in a lot of trade to the island .

I have been to the IOM TT three times and on the third attempted mad Sunday. I can honestly say it is mad!!
The secret I found when riding it was to steer clear of the white number plates (European mainland) as they naturally wanted to dive to the right when the got into any difficulty. If any of you ever get the chance I would certainly recommend you go there for the event. But steer clear of mad Sunday lol. It certainly is an experience I will never forget. |
