Been using VR for the several years now with no issues that couldn't be overcome with strategic settings. Experienced some jerky moments at Road America at 75 FPS so I lowered my headset FPS setting to 60 for Mid Ohio and Silverstone. (Thankfully Pimax allows the FPS to be set this low) At this frame rate I had no more "moments". For me FPS has always been tougher in general for rF2 than most games, even when I raced in pancake. Especially for many un-optimized mods.
Can't say for sure VR has made me any faster but it certainly hasn't made me slower. Pushing buttons blind was not too hard a hurdle to overcome for me. The hurdle of going faster is WAAAY higher. My biggest hassle in VR is typing in chat. I'm a hunt-and-pecker and I have to lower the headset to type. I'm recently retired and have considered devoting some time to learning to type properly. None of the downsides outweigh the awsomeness of VR immersion.
The promise of stereo vision and then full VR in gaming was always a dream of mine. I used oculus and Vive for a while even though the FOV was less than my triple monitors. When Pimax came out about 3 years ago with a KickStarter for a 170ish degree FOV headset I went all in. Now I can't play without the immersion of VR. That said, if anyone is thinking of getting a Pimax talk to me first... there are many technical and support issues that need to be known before jumping in.
