Another fun event in these cars but again a strange event for me , no problems with temp in first stint but like Road America temp warnings came in during 2nd stint even though I was 25% on grill tape , is it programmed in to overheat after x laps ? .

Race
Fluffed my start and was swallowed up by Gary , chased him for a few laps could see I was faster but its very difficult to pass in these cars with so little drag effect and poor brakes , you have to wait for a mistake . For some reason he pulled over and I got passed and dropped in behind Ron , thats where I stayed ,

I managed one attack into first corner but slid wide and let him back through , we were both pushing hard and making mistakes , eventually Ron went off and I was through , stayed this way for a lap or so then my rears fell off a cliff even though they were 95% , I spun off and Ron was back through , decided to pit but missed the pitbox and had to reverse so lost time .

Rejoined the race and eventually ended up behind Ron again and battle recommenced , we both pushed hard again but after a few laps of this my engine started to overheat and I had to short shift and then 3 laps from the end my rears again fell off a cliff so I backed off and drove for a finish ,

Great Racing Ron very enjoyable
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

It loocked clear that it was a track for the Mustangs but I love so much my Barracuda and I'll leave it only for the mandatory cars.

After the start I managed to gain one position over Tim and there started a nice but very hard battle. We touched onece at T1 but fortunatelly without consequences and after 5 laps I didn't manage to keep him back so had to give up and think to the long race in front of me.
I was in P8 untill half race since I lost my Plymouth wile bracking at T1 and lost an other position, Mel with my same peace passed me and no way to reach him till the end of race.

I love long races and I think the real task in this format is to not make mistake, atleast for me.
I was aspecting a bigger partecipation for the sunday but I had nice battles and it was a nice round 1.

To the next one gentlemen!

Had a great race with Rick and finally got past him only to pit at the end of that lap. I came out behind him and was catching him again (but hard to pass) then had to save fuel a little to get to the end. Was a fun day.

Yes was fun race with Tim. We were very even in pace. He about .3 sec faster in qualy. Overheating caused me to back off a little in the straights. I need to work on my grill tape setting though DC indicates it's not so straight forward. Hmm... How long does it take for the engine to let go from heat?

Wish we had more guys racing.

Took about a third of the race before I realized the instability I was having into the corners at the end of the long straights was from too much rear brake. It was so inconsistent that sometimes it would slide and sometimes not; sometimes turn in earlier and sometimes understeer. Had a couple early offs that put me back a bit. Once I realized I might try adjusting my brake bias I did so but on the curving back straight... and drove right into the grass, spinning out and losing 10 seconds and once again ahead of Dave who had spun under acceleration at the last corner on the previous lap. He almost had me on one good run down the front straight but over-cooked it. I went wide on the outside of him and ended up in the grass too, doing a quick 360 and getting back on course ahead of him again. With the brake bias now sorted I was able to be more consistent and bring it home P2, where I qualified.

The Camaro is the car I drove for a season at ODS, though a setup I used there was not compatible with our version of the mod. Bouncy bouncy! Took some doing to settle it down. I plan also on driving the Barracuda like I did in the test race, and the Firebird, for my mandatory three cars. They're already painted!

Round 2: Willow Springs race report.
Fingers crossed I've got a strategy to avoid the game crashing now. I restarted the game midway through quali and didn't have any issues this time.

The race went smoothly but more than once during the race I was going flat out and @Keeper was gaining lap by lap. By lap 15 the gap was about 2 seconds and I pitted. @Keeper stayed out and I think pitted the next time round. By the time he emerged the gap was about 5 seconds which gave me a bit of breathing space but it started shrinking again! Thankfully I managed to keep position and finish. Really enjoyed this race. These cars are perfectly suited to the track.

Hmm. The only differences the League Edition has is that the diff is unlocked and there’s a modest increase in drafting effect. Maybe the non-league version changed since the ODS series…

Round 2: Willow Springs race report.

Ran the Cuda. Was able to pretty much match my Mustang times. Usual qualy 1-2 seconds off pole. Giorgio in the Javelin got a jump on me at the start but my Cuda overwhelmed him quickly with it's superior speed. Kept up with Gary about 3 seconds ahead for several laps but then started falling back. Distance behind grew to be huge. Raced alone til the end. At some point after pitting I was 4-5 sec ahead of Gary. I see on replay he had a drive through. Finished P5.

Round 2: Willow Springs race report.

I was stuck at work and didn't manage to make it in time before half qually.
I was happy with the Javelin on practice during the week and the small grid helped me to gain a good final position.

After the start of the race I was very surprised to see me gaining one second per lap on J Cook, untill the first half of the race. After the pitstop (lap 16) John started to gain time on me but fortunatelly not enought to catch me so I managed to finish on P7. The final position and the slug points made my race a good one and yes, lovelly combo this one!

See you soon on track guys Smile

round 2

Pretty uneventful race for me , got the jump on DJ at the start , stayed with Ron for a few laps then the tyres cried help at first corner and DJ went through , slowly started dropping back as tyres wore and thats where i stayed , out on my own for the rest of the race

Solid race from me. Good start from P2 on the grid, with DC and DJC in close pursuit until DC's off. Started to pull away from DJC and gained on Ed, which made me think he was just managing but apparently not. When Ed pitted I thought I might need a little more fuel on my stop, so I made the fuel adjustment on my pit window but didn't finish until after the braking point for Turn 1. That resulted in a big off and losing over three seconds. I thought for sure I'd end up losing P2 but came out a couple seconds ahead of DJC. Ed, however, was now way up the road, and I got a little erratic trying to push and he got away to eight seconds. Still, a P2 in two consecutive races with two different cars (Camaro and Barracuda). Quite happy with that!

Round 3: Mosport

Qualified 2nd but got a good start and was side by side with @DJCruicky into turn 1 and into turn 2 I had the inside line and tried to give room. Next thing I know he has disappeared and @J-P SImard is behind me. Looking back at the replay I now see what happened as @deecee52 and @DJCruicky had an incident. The rest of the race was just keeping an eye on the gap which was going well until about lap 20 when I see @DJCruicky is 14 seconds behind. By the end of the race he had closed that down to about 8 seconds.

Luck was definitely on my side this time.

Round 3

Got a good start but threw it away with an over ambitious move on DJ , i saw him lock a wheel into turn 2 and thought he was going wide onto the green stuff but he gathered it up and we both fought for the same piece of tarmac . My fault i should have lifted earlier and gave space (Sry DJ) .
We both charged after the pack and were lapping quickly , fortunately we didnt have much trouble passing other cars and came up to a group of 4 having thier own battle , i think we both had the same idea to try and pass them in the pits as they would be hard to fight through , DJ pitted first and i a lap later , as the stops worked out we did the right thing and made it back up to 2nd and 3rd .

Round 3: Mosport

Superb combo, I love this track and there was a nice grid.

I past all the race defending, firstly from Mel Fisk and then from Villeneve who passed me with a nice amd clean manouver after the big straight.

I was aspecting to have a better race peace but all in all it was a nice tournout. Without any mistakes I finished the race in P11.

See you guys at the next one!

Round 3: Mosport

PB got me P8 on the grid. Not surprised. Cookie barely edged me out near the end of qualy. My start was good and got close to him but not enough to try anything. Got past the Dave and Dave event OK. Raced close to the JP Gary Cooke Odell pack for several laps but then my pace dropped off. Got past Gary in the pits when he got boxed in. He was right up on my rear bumper for rest of the race. This track as very few passing spots so I just needed to not make a big mistake, which I managed to do. We were in the same car. If the sim had given him any benefit of a draft he would have gotten by me on the back straight. But it didn't. ??? Very frustrating I'm sure. Thanks Gary for not going kamikaze on me! Finished P7.

Great race!! Was on JP's bumper for the first half race..lost probally a couple spots at pit when boxed in Sad ..last half race again right on Rick's bumper ...hoping for mistake..but none from Rick ..just clean good racing..very hard to pass ..was very careful not to take chance and spoil ricks race by taking him out...another enjoyable race

A fun race where I spent it defending myself against riders who seemed faster. ;-)

I didn't have time to modify the setup, the car was very bad and I think I was very slow in the corners but my car had a very good engine and I was able to keep my opponents behind me by not making no (big) mistake. I was able to get through the Coyne and DJ accident, but after my stop I realized that they were well ahead of me, I have to see if or I lost so much time during my stop.

I felt towards the end of the race that Ron was getting impatient he gave me a little bump or two with his bumper in the carousel, but I was able to keep control and bring back 4th, a good result considering the circumstance. Wink

Given the long sweeping corners here, I felt it was a good track to use the "bogey" car, so I was in the Firebird, the slowest car on the grid. Still managed to qualify P4, but in the race I'd get eaten up on the back straight. The rest of the lap I could catch right back up and had to brake and downshift early into Moss (normally I would not downshift until the second half of it when ready to accelerate again), as apparently that's where I would have made up a lot of time if I'd've been in clean air. I thought about pitting early and hope to get into clean air but there was no guarantee of it, so I just sat back there, occasionally giving whoever was in front a little help under acceleration...!

But then of course they'd pull away a second on the back straight, and I'd gather it all back just in time to try avoiding rear-ending them into Moss. Fun and frustrating at the same time!

A P5 result is a very welcome one for the mandatory "bogey" event!
