Mid Week fun - Drop in sprint races Tuesday Evenings
#1
Hi Folks, with the winter fast approaching it's time to think about our mid week racing.

In previous years we've run endurance championships but this year we thought we just run a series of short sprint races purely for the fun of it. They will be held on Tuesday evenings with qualy at 7.30pm and the races starting around 7.45pm UK time.

The qualy format for the first race is a single flying lap ie outlap, flying lap then in lap. Grid positions for subsequent races will be reverse grids from the previous race finishing order.

There is no registration or commitment required so if you find yourself amiss on a Tuesday evening just drop in. Likewise the servers will not be passworded (unless abused) to encourage drop in drivers and hopefully more SR4L members

Suggestions for car track combos are always welcome and can vary week to week or be left on one mod if we really like it.

First week is 27th October using the S397 GT3 cars (this is a paid mod from S397) at Portimao circuit available from the steam workshop.

The server is up and running so feel free to drop in and bring a friend Smile

Hey, just wanted to ask if you plan on driving these cars more often? i'm thinking of buying the gt3 pack and was wondering if its worth it.

It's a good mod and ever improving with S397's support. The AI are not bad too for off line racing or practice. It's not a lot of money so I'd say go for it.

As for SR4L running server races then if they prove popular there is no reason why not. Traditionally SR4L tend run more historic classes but we thought we'd give these ago just to try something a bit different. First race night is tomorrow hope you can join in.

It's a refreshingly short format with just six laps per race. We squeezed in three races tonight which were a blast. Thank you, Jonathan.

Yes last night worked really quite well with some very good racing. If all are ok, we'll stick with the same GT3 mod for next week too Smile

Why does nobody else drive the mid-engined naturally-aspirated V10 goodness of the Audi R8? Is it the irritating noise on downshifts?

don't think there's a simple answer to that Ed other than personal preference. I wasn't a big fan of the GT3's when they first came out but the improvements they have made of late has transformed the mod for me and will hopefully provide some good fun racing over the weeks to come.

Great fun last night with 12 drivers at one point. A real mix of abilities and good racing throughout the field proving the GT3's appeal for good fun competition. We're off to Zandvoort next week and the server will be up soon for practice.

Thanks to all that came along....see you next tuesday Smile

I can't get in to the Zandvoort server - package not available.

I have ZV 2020 v2.27 and the same cars as this week....
Cool

Another good fun night yesterday with three short races and 10 drivers. Some really close racing all through the field. The consensus seems to be stick with the GT3's so next week we are off to Spa.

Hope to see you all there

I'm not familiar with Salzburgring. It has one long righthander that feels epic but hugely dangerous. Great fun.

Just a quick reminder this series is still running with good turn outs on Tuesday evenings. Still sticking with the GT3 cars, we are off to the stunning and very challenging 2020 Kyalami track.

All welcome and practice server up.

Ok guys we've been running the GT3's on tuesday evenings for a couple of months but perhaps a time for a change has arrived. So let's go old School ....Porsche 917K's with next Tuesday's fun event being at Rouen.

Practice server is up and we'll use the same format of 3 short 6 lap races....hope to see you there
