Classic F2 League - Round 2 - Virginia International Raceway - Reports
#1
What a race!!

Sharks everywhere, I couldnt hide nowhere, so many fast guys around here I feel like evaporating myself.

One point please: I heard complaints about grid positioning at Race 2.
Hear this people: We are racing here for fun, we are not doing this as a job, so please be forgiving about what we do, if you can do it better you are welcome to join us and do it better.

Place your reports here about race please all Smile

Well, it can happen, what can you do. It was a fun race, but I don't think Race 2 should be counted towards the league points, it wouldn't be fair, the grid was messed up.

Also, looking at Race 1 on Liveraces, Tim McCoy is on the first place like he won the race, that's wrong, probably a bug or something?

Tim is the guy who is making the points for us, we trust him as GOD,Wait for his verdict please.

I was having problems with pain in hand and wrist, made changing up very painful. I was running no wing as I couldn't get to grips with winged car so had longer braking distances. Was involved in 3 collisions and each one caused damage to a different wheel. By the time the 3rd one happened I decided that it wasn't worth both the pain and the effort so I quit Smile If I hit you, very sorry, if you hit me, hey, no worries.

I won't be driving the next 2 weeks as DJC will be here and he will get to drive instead Smile

well I sure did not win race 1 but I was 10 that was a miracle. To me the car felt way wrong from practice all week. I was lucky to get tenth.
race two was confusing and it seemed my car was no where near others speed and cars were flying by I tried to get out of the way but you guys go to pass in crazy places we slower guys cant just disappear. we need the line too but whatever. I will do points tomorrow by then you all can decide on points for race two. I think we use them we did race and we all had a chance but whatever you guys decide.

Sure and for me i would say reckless driving took place yesterday Smile
First race false start,got drive through penalty,went right,hit a driver,got damage.
Next lap did my pitstop to fix my car and in the next one the drive through penalty.
From then tried to earn places but i was too far behind..
Second race took the right hairpin too fast, went to the tires, damaged the car, again.
Pits for repairs but forgot to add fuel so i had to do another pit and as you can see lost a lot of time.
Sorry to the drivers i had contact with :-[
Now looking forward to next race!
Best wishes for a good month to all!
edit,καλο μηνα Νικολα!!!!

hey guys
i know it can happen but ..
i think there is nothing to decide..race two is not valid for me.

i know this is just for fun and im doing this just for fun,but hey where is the point to race then?why we have league points then?why do i practice all week?why i spend hours practice with my mate?
i wanted challenge thats why i joined this league..there are lots of fast guys out there,so do you think its easy to get pole or win the race?if someone is faster that dont mean its easier for him.if you do you are funny..points and positions are only satisfaction and reward we have,so if you dont care about that i have to say i wish you all fun races guys Wink

i got 18 position on grid and my league rival 2th in second race and some other guys where much in front to..that a joke
so there is no point for me to race like that in this league Sad
then problem with pitstops sharing ...
i would not complain if those guys where at least near me in the back order..
there should be a warning then or some sort of compromise if this would happen,we could do grid order in race in first lap or something..or admin can connect true teamviewer or something and if he is not there someone can do the job for him & us Smile..

i think this race should be run again at end of champ so we be all happy Smile
im not angry or something at anyone but please correct this error if possible, its a league race.

WD guys racing, nice to see very fast guys there Wink it was very intense true qualy and race 1

cheers

Qually

Went out early but struggled to get any speed out of the car , couldnt get near my practice times at all , I just about managed to break into the 53s .

Race 1

Got a good start but someone hit me , at first I thought they had hit me up the back but I couldnt see anyone which threw me a bit , it was enough to break my concentration and I ended up hitting the back of Ramon under braking , I spun him and then hit him again (BIG sorry Ramon) :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ , waited until he got going and stayed wide to give the place back but my stupidity cost us both badly . Chased after him but couldnt stay with his pace .
Pitstop went OK came out in clear air so I pushed and started to recover places , Cookie came out of the pits and joined me , we then diced for a few laps he was so much faster than me on the striaghts he was all over me like a rash , I had to drive the nuts off the car through the twisty bits to buy me time on the striaghts , that was a hard race .

Race 2

Got a good start but came across a slow starting car and had to brake and head for the barriers as someone was alongside me , I hit the barrier and tried to squeeze through but I tagged him and started some mayhem (sorry guys) , got going and came across DJ having a battle with a Matra after a couple of laps he managed to get past but I couldnt so I decided to pit and see if I could get the undercut . Came out on a clear track and just pushed , places came to me and I ended up behind Ramon , tried to push him but I was melting the tyres just to stay near him , the Matra was just too fast.

I didnt really enjoy this event , I caused too many incidents which is not like me and I was having to overdrive to compensate for the performance difference between the Techno and Matra , the Matra had a big edge here , I hope the difference is not as great on the next track .
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

i beat my own expectations in qauli at 11th and landed a good finish in race 1 after some holding up faster guys behind who had incidents in the first lap - hard to pass at VIR

race 2 i should have been at the front of the grid according to the league rules, 3rd maybe -or at least where i finished or qualied in race 1 but NO ... i started 18th(random i guess) -and typed "wtf" at the start (sorry for that) - in the end i got a blistering start and almost hit a car in the brake zone of t1- i had to dive inside to miss as i could not stop in time , think it was tim , had to grab 1st gear and it probably looked a little wild and crazy - confirmed - it was - i dont think i made any contact but probably caught some drivers out - and went right to 5th place on lap 1 due to some of the other incidents - so i gained back 13 places on the straight - 8)

this has happened before and we just sucked it up and im fine with that , but i am not of the opinion it should happen at all - if we have a rule that is dependent on 1 single person being at every event then we need to drop the rule imo - having said that - you dont need paul to do a reverse grid- one of the admins can do it - i dont know how to right now but im sure its easy to figure out - ill volunteer or someone can - with a little planning we dont need paul at every event to ensure the reverse grid gets done - i race in other leagues with this reverse rule in race 2 - its always the admin who enters the order for the next race during warm-up- with admin commands ...so all you need is an admin - his name doesnt need to be paul ...my 2 cents - we need to fix that

Thanks Cookie, yes it can be done with admin commands, I prefer to do it from the server side.

I am quite happy to show other how its done so you don't have to depend on me being there for every race.

Hey, besides all glitches, this was a great race! 8)
A great field of very close drivers, be it at the top, midfield or end of the field PLUS a gorgeous race track.

Q – it was tricky to find a gap for 2 or 3 laps. Finally, I was able to deliver a PB, which gained me P5 on the grid.

RACE 1 – I had some presentiments regarding turn 1 on lap 1, and … (also hating to be right) I was right. I got caught up in the mess that seems to have been unavoidable: a turn 1 miasma. David, no worries, as I said, I was almost sure that will happen. Let's say: "I am glad it was you" ;D - No bad feelings at all, but rather thanks for waiting, which was very gentleman-like! 8)
After entering turn 1 in P5, I exited in P15 with some damage at the front. But hey! With some adaptation in the driving style the car still delivered good lap times. So, I decided not to stop and tried to catch the field. That was big fun! So much fun that I almost forgot to pit. After the pit stop I was in P7 and gained one more place because Santiago pitted even later.
So, all in all, and after finishing on P6, a nice race.

RACE 2 – I didn't get much of the confusion at the start because I was (almost) in the position that I expected. And … I was totally focussed to survive Turn 1. Which I did, but just. I tried to take it easy, not aggressive in any way, but placed my car quite in the middle. I was kind of surprised as we went THREE WIDE, with me in the middle :o
well, I backed off and survived it. And had a nice race from then on. I lost quite some time entering the pits behind a slower car, and returned to the track in P5 behind DJC and in front of David Coyle. That promised some good and fair racing. As it did. After some laps, I managed to open a gap to David behind me. Looking up to the front, I saw that DJC went off into the distance. However, I managed to close the gap until the last lap. Actually, we were just 0.1sec apart at the finishing line. I would loved to have 2 or 3 more laps. That would have been exciting!

RACE 2 DECISION – every decision is a good decision. So, of course, the decision that the race does not count is fully accepted. Actually, I wouldn't mind to repeat the race at the end of the season, maybe as a 40 or 60min race(?!). The track is awesome, and it would be a good track for a title decider.

dreadful first race ...punted from behind and got damage then pitted lap2 .
baaaaaahh pit lane speeding penalty drive through .
good lapping after that but what can you do from there , well 16th i think

race 2
well it was much better for me managed 12th from 17th on the grid
but i see it was in vain as now it seems no points ?
thought it was always a reverse top 10 for race 2 ? or was there a mix up
tim ...congrats on your appointment (and pole for defunct race )
oh well that's my luck for you if its not one thing its another

lets hope its better next time
congats to the top guys and everyone else who finished

Rick the second race grid did not get set properly from the get go that is why race 2 is not counted even I with all my speed to be on pole race 2 was set in p3 I think I could have won from pole LLLLLLLLOOOOOLLLLLL
We always get better as year goes along everyone has to remember we ate human mistakes happen.
I hope we all calm down and keep the great racing with all the new fast guys its fun to watch from behind.
