Next coming season: Spring-Summer. Brainstorming.

deecee52 Wrote:Agree with that Harri, SR4L should offer ALL its members the chance to drive these cars , f3 give close fun racing and if we use the 150hp version then they are pretty quick yet still well balanced , it also opens the secondary battle of Eve v Spark and maybe the possibilty of using the 140hp versions instead of a weight penalty for the top guys , that would keep the field tight and the racing close .

I've always been of the opinion of driving weight penalties according to position in the championship.
Let's say the number 1 driver carrying 20kg, the number 2 19kg, and so on.
weight could be easily calculated by seing the average lap time lost practiced at 2 or 3 tracks (number of extra kg needed for every tenth lost) and then decide how much time we want to be the maximun penalty.

I think weight penalties won't alter the championship positions (compared to non weight penalties) by the end of the league and it will bring close action races.

I like that idea too.

I LOVE the idea of 2 series too. but - i don't do the work involved in setting it up and keeping points - if it's ok by them guys, it's ok by me.

as stated in my first post - i like the F3's, but it has been rejected in the past because of Bryan's saturday night deal, that is why i threw in the F2.
but - i don't think it would be disrespectful to Birtwell's deal, in fact - some more guys might show up for saturday night deal to practice for sunday.
weight penalties would again be more work on the guys who make this happen, we should have more input from them and the fast guys (take the damn superchargers off of them - that'll teach them >Sad )

Glad to hear from you DC - hope to see you on track soon... Wink

I don't think that's too much work. Just as server gets set up for sunday's event is the time when setting the weight penalty. I think it's a file that relates ingame driver's name to the penalty added.

If the F-5000 mod is suitable it would be a good historic fit for US tracks. I have not tried it since soon after its release. V .83 I believe is the latest

What do you think about testing this F5000 on a one or two fun races/american tracks events?

Yes, the F5000 cars are a great mod in-process. But, again, there are historically accurate differences in performance among the different cars, and I don't know of a League Edition. Car assignment could be made to equalize the field. The modified F3 cars are really a whole lot of fun, even better than the originals. That would be my top choice. Combining F2000 and historic F3s is a great idea as well.

where do I get f5000 to try

A league edition of the F5000 is fairly easy to make; pick one car that should be "it" and I can set all the cars on that physics. Should be an hour of work, so that will be no problem at all.

Only thing is; you than have an altered mod where guys can't just get in before downloading the mod; I believe that was a problem in the past?

But I offer, no problem.

Looks nice Wim. Let's see what people say when they practice this car.

I've always wanted to pit SR4L against another League. I know some that may be interested. Could be a lot of fun, race for your club against another for bragging rights Wink Points table and a bit of banter. Le Mans Series for example.

A Fun Event Series or a one off Event.

Food for thought..

Just to add to the thread the mid week racing has had some good turnouts- and I'm hoping to build on this if you guys still want me to that is.

The outline plan is still historic endurance race, likely Howstons but with more bias to strategy & driving style. The X4 fuel and tyres didnt quite work as planned this season as you may as well fit new tyres if you're in for fuel anyway as there was no time penalty with the the T280's . Next season is likely to be more like X2 Fuel and X5 tyres rewarding the smoother racer. We may also get different strategies too ...some going for light fuel multi stops vs heavy fuel long stints

Am also looking into mechanical failures as well as weather too just to add into the mix. Well it is endurance racing after all Smile

Week nights again too Tues or Thurs most likely

I'm just going to throw this out there... I'm not enjoying the 1hr race format too much. I'd rather be lapped once in two races than twice in one race. My enthusiasm fades when I fall too far back. And seems like the field can get kinda sparce due to attrition. Haven't done an analysis of that so might not be accurate.

It is a valid point.

I thought it would be very difficult for me to go through an 1 hour race but I endured it.

At the same time I prefer the previous format and also the obligatory pitstop, I think it added suspence a lot.

When we decided the format of the season we run now, nobody said it would stay forever, perhaps Gorka should set up a poll to decide format for next season.

It will be up to you people.
Anyway, except for the first races, the other have been won by drivers pitting.

Final season race will be long, full GP, remember. 60 laps. Around 1h 25m

I agree with Rick I like the 30 minute races better I have a better chance of being on lead lap and also we get the reverse grid so some of us get to start in front sometimes I endured the one hour race two but I think I was lapped all but once its less fun to not be able to race for those two points it gives the guys in back a goal also since we cant win races. Just my thoughts. I like doing the pit stops too.
I also think we should stick with fun races until server issues are solved giving points is not fair now

I agree with Tim/Rick- shorter sprint races are much better for me. and, having fun races with different cars until server issues are solved is also a great idea..
