Right,
I've got the race announcement almost ready for Sebring. Prior to making it public there's a doubt that has come to my mind.
Sebring is a track that is raced both day/night.... so, we could be doing some kind day/night transition racing or (as league is still in its beggining) we can keep with classic 2x30' daylight racing

I've though of many posibilities but what your thoughs on this?

I like both.
Jerry?

If we do a night race make it the first race , the reverse grid in race 2 gives enough problems for everyone as is . can we set the server to transition to night so we can try it ?

I think Gorka meant we do an one hour race with transition day night day.

more possible ideas.....
If it's a 1 hour race, have time go from day, to night, then back to daytime (24 hour cycle).
If it's 2x30min races then just have time go from day to night (12 hour cycle).

Just my 2P.

This is a good solution that bridges both worlds.
Maybe try this at Sebring and decide if we want to follow it for next races?

I hate seeing Lola's headlights go unused :Smile

I restarted server with 60X time.
Its set to 6 laps, so race duration is about 6X2=12min per race.

12minX60=720min=12hours.
I hope I have calculated it well, I hope server is working :Smile

I think we can still keep doing 2 x 30 min races as we have other special events during the season with longer races. And having two races gives other drivers a chance to score points if they ruined their first race. (I've also been thinking events with single races should score 2x points to be more fair, but that is another subject)

I first though of doing one race during daylight and a second race at night, but as D Coyne wisely says a reversed grid at night can have a very dangerous start of race.

I like the idea of starting both races during the day and ending them at night having the transition at around half race. That would require to calculate racing start time and time multiplier depending on when does night begin to fall in Sebring in rFactor2.

No problem.

Then I think it's a deal. Tomorrow I'll go with the official announcement.

My opinion is that the day/night cycle should not be too artificially fast, because it looks bad and it's a bit fake.

How about 1h race with gradual transition from, say 18:30-19 to 21:30-22? That is just 3x time acceleration and the race will finish at night time, which in Sebring is awesome.

I was wondering about this, that maybe change would be sudden.
At the same time, I worry that starting race at 19 will get us an evening to night race and that is too much for my old eyes.

my thoughts..
we talked about some races being 1 hour, this could be it. sebring is a 12 hour race - starts in the day - ends at night.. like 60% day - then night.. could be 70/30 either way would be close.
that's my view..
just looked - sebring starts at 10:15 am to 10:15 pm
so there you go Wink

I like this very much.
what do you say Gorka.

RE: A quick question about Sebring - gorgias1976 - 19-02-2015

thy shall be done

I find it logical, let's make Sebring a 1h race.

Temperatures must not be static this time. We can set server for race day so temperatures will drop a little by night (according to real forecasts I'll publish). Anyway, expect high temperatures here. Tire handling will be important (actual weather forecasts predict softer temperatures)
