Please post your reports here, would be great to read some Smile

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - giorgetto giaguaro - 27-10-2013

So disappointed, I didn't complete neither three laps in two races. Sad

Race 1: There was a safe start, but at 2nd lap, at the entering of casino corner, there was two cars out of control that I couldn't avoid. There came a massive crash scene and I found my RR wheel entrapped into the barriers (surely a bug) next to Thanos im my same situation. There was no way to continue the race.

Race 2: Started at 3rd position and finished at first corner. Thanks to the same new member, that caused the incident in race1, I had my car entrapped (again!!) behind the barriers.

I spend a lot of time to get prepared for the race and to get out in that way is very frustrating. I was not so fast for this round but my target was to finish the races.

Thank you SR4L and congrats to the finishers!

See you soon on track! Wink

Qualy

Went out early to get a clear track, it worked and I set my initial time on 2nd lap , this gave 2nd , I didn’t expect to hold it and soon dropped to 6th which was my target , went out again to try higher rear tyre pressure and made a tiny improvement in time but not places.

Race 1

Made a good start and dropped in behind DJ , gained a place on lap 1 when Gorka went swimming , I stayed close to DJ and slipped up his inside when he went wide at the last turn , I then spent what seemed forever watching my mirrors and trying to keep my car on the racing line trying not to give him a gap to go for , but I went wide when I was calling for my pitstop and DJ pounced and went past , my pitstop went ok and coming round on my second lap I saw DJ just starting to leave his pit so I luckily managed to snatch the place back , so again I was watching my mirrors and trying to lap cleanly and give him no opportunities , luckily every backmarker I came across drove superbly and didn’t hold me up at all so DJ couldn’t benefit from them , a few laps from the end I noticed him dropping back on certain parts of the track so I guessed he was nursing damage , I made sure I kept my driving tidy and managed to finish 2nd .

Race 2

Started slow and fortunately weaved through the start line crash , braked hard and avoided the carnage at turn one but got hit from behind , this gave me a puncture which caused me to spin into the wall just before Casino , this gave me more damage ,
Limped to pits and found Bart was in my pit so I had to wait for his stop to finish , I then had a 185 second stop , got going again and just got my head down and lapped as quick as I could with out taking too many risks , slowly worked my way up to 6th but 2 laps down .

Great Event and more fun than I thought it was going to be , well done and thanx to Marcel and Paul for setting this up .

Can I say well done to all drivers , everyone fast and slow who I came across during the race drove in an exemplary way on a difficult track

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - thazio - 27-10-2013

Very disappointed also...

Managed to make a 1.29.8 offline and had a race simulation with no serious damage
with an average of 1.33. I am starting to have fun driving this thing and i thought
i was going to enjoy a point collecting oriented race, but...
race 1 had 1 lap and trapped at the barrier as Giorgio described... :o (frustrating but also funny situation) Big Grin
race 2 never started for me as my baby has caught a minor flu and i had to
assist my wife to control the situation...(nothing serious, baby already sleeping...)
I hope i ll find more time to practice for the next race and...have more fun Smile.
(one more thing: for me is very unrealistic to be able to destroy 1 million cars in order to have the best
qualifying time. Can we do something about that?)
sorry George no points for the team... Sad

Well done SR4L!

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - Fergarino - 28-10-2013

I really enjoyed the practice and the build up to the races but unfortunately I was not lucky in either races despite my attempts to have a clean race.

Practice & Qualifying

I had a great practice session and managed to complete 47 laps as well as achieve a high 1:27 which was a PB, I was also pleased to be able to consistently post competitive race speed laps with race fuel in practice. Qualifying wasn't as good, I got nervous and it affected my performance, I was left disappointed with a 1:29 after a lot of failed laps.

Race 1

The first race went well for 1 lap and by the end of that first, slow lap I felt there was enough space to speed up, unfortunately I was caught off guard at Massenet when the car in front became extremely slow, I managed to slow down but not enough to avoid a minor collision which involved my front left touching the car in front's rear right tyre, predictably this caused both vehicles to lose stability and slow down further. At this point the car was not damaged on my end, however it was at this point that I was shunted again and sent over the barrier at Massenet, I rejoined the circuit but the damage was severe so I pulled over and retired the car at Casino.

Race 2

The second race was more disappointing than the first as it only lasted a corner for me. I started in 6th and found myself struggling for space which brought my car up on the inside of the corner, which I would have to hug to get around safely, at this point a car running parallel was forcing me out of space leading to an eventual two into one situation at the scaffolding on the apex of the turn, wheels contacted, car lost stability and drifted into the barrier on the opposite side of the track, instantaneously I was struck by another vehicle from behind and the car finished up with the rear wheels on the barrier, no chance of it moving so I had to retire again.

I enjoyed the time I had on the track, however I can't help but feel that I'm the new member who has been blamed for other retiring, I'm fairly certain there was little I did wrong to cause or avoid both incidents so please view the replay in detail before posting accusations.

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - Hedlund - 28-10-2013

QUALI

I had been doing a lot of laps in the practice session just before quali, with good flow and no crashes. So I decided to be first driver out from pit when quali started, and I was. I was lucky to have no drivers in front of me when accelerated out on my first flying lap. I wanted to set a good laptime right from the start, so I could relax and take greater risks the following laps to improve. I made many small mistakes and had not the front grip I had expected, but was suprised set 1,22,9. Perfect start. Slower than my best practice time, but I knew only Marcel had been faster, so I felt quite safe. Following laps was really bad, as I had bad luck with traffic. Marcel did 1,22,4 after a few laps, and to be able to take pole I had to set a new personal best. I never managed to do that, but improved my time to 1,22,6. I was happy with that and I felt that our front grid positions was never threatened. 2nd place on grid, on the inside, is not that bad after all :Smile

RACE 1

A good start from all top 4-5 drivers as far as I could see. Slightly better start than Marcel, and the inside helped me to 1st after T1. First lap I was really struggling with bad front grip... Big difference in grip compared to quali. Marcel was much faster in the slow part of track (just like he had been all weekend). After first lap I found a better rhythm and Marcel appeared to be quite happy with 2nd for a while. We both took it much easier through the chicane than in quali, but as he was faster in the slow part I had to compensate and try to be a bit faster through there. A bit risky... But after 10 laps I decided to pit. I had a good stop, 46 seconds, BUT my brother Robert came in to the pit and parked his car right in front of me, so when I was going to leave, I first had to reverse before I could go forward. This obviously cost me a few seconds, and no better that my first laps were quite bad, with many small mistakes and once again I experienced bad front grip. Marcel pitted a few laps later and came out right in front of me. He was faster than me and build up a small gap but had some bad luck with traffic a few times so I could catch him again. He had a small gap with only a few laps to go, when I suddenly saw him wreck his car at Tabac corner. I took it very easy the remaining laps and could take a comfortable victory, in my comeback 8) 8)

RACE 2

I'm always afraid of these reversed grid-races. I took it easy in the start, only to see djc and nikos make contact in front of me and throw themselves into the barrier.. I managed to avoid them but lost speed. Djc and I made contact and he spun (I saw it first when I watched the replay, didn't knew he was beside me after his crash with Nikos). When throwing my car into the first corner there was suddenly a wall of cars... I smashed the brakes but could not avoid to gently touch the car in front of me, however that was enough to send him flying (sorry whoever it was!). I spun and had to turn around... Continued with minimum damage. I was already far behind, and after the chicane someone had left a present for me - a lot of haybales... I spun again, but was lucky to get away with minimum or no damage. I pitted on lap 2... Everything went fine and altough my bad start I found myself on 6th place or something after my pitstop. Not bad, but I had to drive over 20 laps with same set of tires. Gorka appeared behind me, and I knew he was in the lead, almost about to lap me. I didn't want to let that happen in case he would slow me down later. He had good pace and we drove pretty much identical laptimes for several laps until he disappeard. I fought my way up to 2nd... somehow. All the time I was expecting to soon be caught by faster guys on fresh tires... But that didn't happen. After many laps, with many blue flags and stuff, I suddenly was behind Gorka... who had some really bad damage, it seemed. He managed to hold on to his first place for a lap, but then let me pass (probably realized he had too heavy damage). To my surprise I could take my second win (only 3rd in my sr4l career) ;D

Thanks to SR4L and all who participated in this event. It was sweaty, frustrating, exiting and fun. Thanks to Marcel, you did a good job, everything ran smoothly. But bad luck in the race, better luck next time.

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - savedByYehoshua - 28-10-2013

So my first experience with a league race with Rfactor is over. My main objective was to finish race 1 and 2 - not causing an incidents along the way. I struggled with the car setup only getting a 1:38 qual but it was my best time even in practice (which I will do a lot more testing/practice for the British GP as I cannot make it for the next race on Nov 10th race unfortunately).

In Race 1 Monaco, I believe I finished 13th, Race 2 I lost suspension on the back straightaway left side wall - car unable to continue. All in all a good start for me from my pov. Hopefully my future reports will contain more detail!

I believe that the expertise from the league members here will help me be a better sim driver.

Thanks.

Peter

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - gorgias1976 - 28-10-2013

Qualifying
-------------
Managed to get in the 23s and I thought that was enough. Tried to improve but couldn't find a perfect lap.

Race1
--------
Sudden drop in fps made for a really difficult start. I managed to survive until reaching the chicane where, even approaching quite slow, it was imposible to find the turning spot with such few fps.

Race2
--------
At warmup decided to leave track, close rFactor2 and start it again. That seemed to "refresh" something and got driveable fps this time.
Being in second place I managed to get a good start and get the lead at the first corner. Managed to get a comfortable driving through the first half of the race. I just decided to drive without many risks and without taking care where the other cars were as long as I had nobody in my mirrors.
at a moment found Rikard who remained in front of me, just at the spot where he didn't get any blue flag. That was a little confusing as I didn't know wether at any time he was going to let me lap him.
At lap 12 my pitstop arrived, 48 seconds. While it took place I took the time to see where everybody was. Then I saw Rikard was the one being in second place so I was relieved that even he probably had already stopped I would still have a comfortable lead.
Laps went by, but at around lap 18 the tail suddenly went off when braking for T1 without a chance for control, hitting hard the barriers, really wierd car reaction. That left me with a highly damaged car, steering turned almost 45º to the left at the straights and heavy wavings at the brakings.
Tried to drive the car for the remaining laps so I could get some points but 4 laps later just lost it and crashed heavier, finally retiring.

P.S.: Well, at least the worst race of the season has already gone.

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - Txus - 28-10-2013

Really Nice Picture Hedlund, congratulations!

My report:

Qualy: I almost did my pb 1:26:5xx or so, in my second or third lap, very soon. Drivers in front were 1:25:xxx and drivers behind were 1:27:x, so my ninth position in grid was safe. Anyway I did more than 10 additional laps trying to make a better time without success.

First Race:
I was lucky and found myself in the middle after the first lap, drivers behind (Cook and Nikos I think) didn't seem able to reach me (maybe traffic or damage because they were really more consistent than me in practice) and I was not able to catch drivers in front, too fast for me. So I just needed to keep calm and avoid mistakes, I did one or two but didn't touch the wall, no damage, made 5th I think. Much, much better than I expected.

The funny thing is that when I requested pit, I hadn't noticed that pit was already been "autorequested", so what I did was unrequest pit...I slowed down, entered the pit lane but didn't find any red box...almost caused a tragedy rejoining the race :Smile

Second Race:
Funny accident at really low speed sent me flying beyond the swimming pool even before reaching the start line. Maybe I deserved this for being a coward Tongue and asking to start at the end of the grid. Never again ;D
I recommend you to watch it, it is really hilarious.

Thanks SR4L and all drivers that made my life easier under blue flag, it was really difficult in this track, well done!

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - Lecram - 28-10-2013

Qualify went really great for me, my second flying lap was a personal best for me and enough for pole position.
I then spent some laps trying to improve but that didn't work out so last outings I tested some more with a bit more fuel for the race.

Race 1 I knew it would be difficult to maintain first place as pole here is on the wrong side. So Rikard got the lead into T1. I saw him touching the armco a couple of times the first lap and wasn't sure if he got damage but he seemed to find good pace. As Rikard stated he drove a little away from me in the last sector but the first two sectors I was easily able to catch him again. I tried to put pressure on him but he stayed quite cool and went for his stop after 10 laps.
I still had fuel left, I tried to make the most of the clear track I had but soon I got traffic and I wondered if this was the right strategy. So after 12ish laps I went for my stop, 49 secs but low and behold, when I drove away no sign of Rikard. Then after T1 he was right behind me and I had to be very cautious not to make mistakes on my cold tires. I got into my rhythm again and was able to pull a away by very small bits but traffic made it quite hard. Then, with about 3 laps to go, I started thinking about setting reverse grid for race 2 while negotiating for the chicane. I could have thought of anything else and make the same mistake but that's how it was... I did make it through the chicane but completely lost my focus for the next corner, Tabac. I hit the the stone wall on the right quite hard which gave me suspension damage. I tried to stay off line while heading for the pit but by doing so I hit the armco on the left a couple of times and at the last hit, my left wheels got stuck somehow and it felt like my car exploded.
Engine dead, wheel gone, end of race and DNF #1. I could punch myself in the face. Though every lap was a challenge, I felt so comfortable both behind Rikard and in the lead and I just threw it away... >Sad

So P8 for race 2. Starting in the middle of the pack made me worry but I could avoid some mess in T1 and I thought I had a chance at winning until after the Tabac corner. An incident happened there and Mel was recovering from it. I was hoping he'd stay right but probably going on throttle made his car swerve. I went for the left side and almost had passed him until he hit me. Lots of damage and I pitted immediately. It took 80 secs but at least I could continue, 23 laps on one set of tires ahead. All went fine, I got good rhythm again and quite soon I found myself behind Dj, who quite soon found himself behind Edwin Gerrits who exited pit I think. The battle was for position but I heard Dj honking to Edwin, probably to ask him to make way. So I honked along a bit. Eventually, we got past Ed and I tried to put Dj under pressure, I was quite a bit quicker. Then after Casino Square, I was so close behind I tried to outbrake Dj for the next corner. I was prepared to let go as it would have been messy if Dj closed the door on me but he didn't. He braked a bit too late I think and I took the risk, went over the sidewalk and passed him just before the hairpin. It was quite easy for me to pull away from him, soon I had a gap of about 10 secs and it seemed I was able to gain a little on Rikard as well, although he was too far away to catch. I felt nothing wrong with my tires so I didn't bother to look at the state of them but at about lap 20, before entering the tunnel, I felt my rear was behaving very strange when on throttle. I managed to get clean but very slow through the chicane, David was right behind me again and I wondered what had happened to my car. No collision whatsoever, it felt like a rear left puncture... So next up Tabac but no way I was going to make that corner and so I hit the wall again. And again... And again while heading for the pit, again... repair took 230 secs. I was flabbergasted about what had happened, such a good race, with Gorka's DNF I would have been 2nd behind Rikard but now all I could do was wait and watch cars finish the race while I was still repairing... So the crew was ready, everyone finished and I tried to get on my way to finish my last lap, still in 4th place. The engine had overheated and the car still felt very strange, I missed my braking point after Casino Square and got stuck in the armco so there it was, DNF #2. >Sad >Sad

My mind was going haywire, initially I thought I still would get points for the positions I was in but Dj quite tactically made an end to that dream.
Performance wise I am very happy the way things went this event. Very much a shame I couldn't turn it into big points and now I may have lost the lead in the championship too... Sad

Anyway, very well done Rikard, 2 wins and a great pic to rub it in even more Wink
Also well done to Dj Cruickshank, mr. consistent is doing what he's good at! Wink
Great job by those who finished Smile

Cheers,

Marcel.

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - 1959nikos - 28-10-2013

Monaco was always a nightmare for me, in all sims it was extremely hard to do a full lap.

After two weeks practicing here though, I finally had done Monaco one of my familiar places and in what a car, a 60s F1!!
I could go around for ever, in race pace (errr not the 1:23 type) and keep mistakes to a minimum.
Best time I had was a flat 1:28, that 1:27 always slipped off my fingers.
Consistency though, I had lots.

Race 1
I got off nicely, behind Cook and I decided I shouldnt press on him.
He was faster than me and I would risk making mistakes.
I suppose John was looking at his mirrors, as we had some fine battles nose to tail all week, so he did a mistake very early on and he was out.

After some laps I realized I was high up, 8th then 7th, checked my differences with the rest, in front was Jesus I had no way to catch, so much faster than me, and 40sec behind was Vittorio, obviously struggling with very little practice all week. Bart was some ages behind Vittorio too, obviously not a threat.

I relaxed a bit, went carefully into my pit, went out, checked opponents.
Bart had passed Vittorio, he was 30secs behind and he was chewing the difference at 4secs a lap!!
Quick calculation as there were 10 laps left, showed I had no chance if I stayed this way, so a frantic pace was needed, which I did, controlling a bit his comeback.
Then, when my blood pressure was reaching the sky, 5 laps before end of race Bart slowed down, an accident I guess.

So, 6th place was mine, and it felt good Big Grin

Race 2
No Race 2, I was hit at the start, my wheel stuck in the barrier, big dissapointment as I was sure I would have a good result, I made no serious mistakes at Race 1 and I was sure I could keep it that way.
This incident, being taken out in second race at the tracks I was most prepaired, Texas and Monaco, prooved without doubt that luck is a major ingredient for success.

I watched the rest of race, especially Gorka doing some brave driving with his damaged car, at the end the look of the race was appauling, 1 in front and the rest 1, 2, 3, 4 laps down.

all in all a great race, in the most difficult place to race an F1 car.

Well done all Wink

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - DJCruicky - 28-10-2013

Nice reports all.
I entered this race weekend without much hope of me finishing a race, 24 laps without crashing? pheww.
Entered room and 2 guys were doing 1:22's, huh!
In qually got up to 4th best only by a few hundreds of a second behind Gorgias. Managed to go a bit faster and got 3rd place. Which I found soon a silly thing to do as that put me on the left of the grid with Gorgias on the right beside me.

Race 1 starts and Gorgias jumps me at the start. No problem, my main goal is just to try not to crash and see what happens. Did not need to wait too long for Gorgias to go swimming, glug glug glug haha, need my find a picture of a fish.
With Marcel and Ric Hedlund untouchable in front, I was not taking any risks, taking it easy in all the places I normally crash. Maybe a bit too easy as I had DeeeCee on my tail and he overtakes me. I follow him for a good number of laps in and out of traffic only for me to overtake him to get 3rd back (think he just let me passed cheers). But then the bugger gets my place back in the pit stops and was too far a head to caught. Few laps to go i jump from 4th to 3rd, seems like Marcel is out (more fish?).
Feeling happy on last lap thinking I'm going to finish with loads of points, then horror struck. 2 corners before the finish I hit some object lieing on the road left by someone. Sends my car flying, towards the water. I see from my view as I start spinning in the air Sky, Sea, Road, sky, sea, road,....like one of them fairground gambling games where the guy spins a big wheel to win a prize. What will I get? What will I get? I get road, phewwww. Off I go to win 3rd place prize, pheww. Shit my pants.

Race 2 had a tuff start. Straight off, me and Nikos got in a tangle with wheels locked (no fault of mine happy to see after viewing the replay). Got free and hit Ric Hedlund, ok that was my fault that one, luckerly for Ric no spin for him, unlucky for me found my car pointing wrong way with other peoples cars flying over me. Jesus does his trip to heaven.
Straight to pits with damage to car overtaking many crashed cars on the way there. Surprised to find pit was only 50 seconds, I've had longer pits without damage. Now 1 lap down and in 10th place with 23laps of fuel in my car off I go. I started gaining places, not by overtaking anyone, just by I think people crashing out or pitting. Found myself in 3rd. Thought i would just take it easy after that, I looked to see what the gap was to guy behind, saw it was Marcel and he was gaining fast. He caught me up, had a battle with him but I could not keep him behind me long.
Later in the race he and Gorka crash out and I finish the race in 2nd.
Was a bit funny at Marcels end of race (maybe not for him), I had finished my race and he was still in pits getting his car repaired. Of course I had to gloat and honk my horn at him as he waited Big Grin. Off he goes to finish his last lap only then to crash half lap to go and DNF, lol.

CU next time, thanks for hosting MarcelW.

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - edwin - 28-10-2013

Did a lot of practise laps aroud here because i thought it would be very difficult to stay on track without going for a swim as it turned out to be for real.

At first i didn't want to qualify at all being a coward for starting in the midfield. But watching you guys qualying i got out on track and set me a time. left it there and found out i was 13th or so.

Race 1:

After a easy start i hold back to let the race unfold, but in lap 2 disaster struck in the left hand corner towards the casino. got hit from behind and that left me with a puncture and lots of damage.. limped back to the pit being in the way for several people...sorry bout that guys :-[
Then after a 275sec pitstop i regained but car didn't feel good after that but managed to bring the car home in 12th place or something like that.

Race 2:

I almost asked to set me at the back of the grid...but didn't lucky me :Smile
Start went wel and at some point i was in 2nd position.
After pitting in my 13th lap i had DJ and Marcel behind me, DJ honking at me to go out of the way but hey >Sad this is for posistion so don't you honk at me DJ Wink you have to earn this place (I know you are faster so make your move ;D and i will try to let you live Tongue) But all in all i had a good race and ended 5th.
With my teami at 3rd we scored nice points for the team championship.....way to go VVV F1 Wink

Thanks SR4L as a whole but particularly Marcel for yet another great event.

RE: SR4L F1 league Race Reports Rnd 4 Monaco - DJCruicky - 28-10-2013

Sorry about the honking horn at you.
I was carving through the lapped traffic one by one, each one letting me by, then I got to your car wondering why you not move. Way only after 3 corners that i see it was for position. Red on my face there. I do like my horn, I would not play rfactor without it. Big Grin

I'm glad we raced this track. I know some guys didn't want to go here but after all they raced here back in the 60's... And after all we are immortal Wink

If ISI manage to improve the collisions it will be much better... So we actually can touch the opponent gently without sending him to the sky. Now it's absolutely forbidden to make any contact at all, so it's not strange that we had some accidents. Your collision with djc should not have had those consequences. And djc spinning when touched my right fron/rear tire? Absurd Tongue
