RE: What is deemed cutting? - Fergy - 12-08-2012 While we have no anti cut or anti cheat programs at the moment we will be running in the future for league events such programs. In terms of driving a legal lap this is what drivers should be aiming for. Croft Road Course has been used for these examples. ![]() Cutting Turn#6 Croft ![]() Maximum Apex Turn#6 Croft ![]() Running wide Turn#11 Croft ![]() Outside maximum Turn#11 Croft While no anti cut system is in place at the moment all that can be done is random monitoring of laps. Qualifying is where drivers will be most vulnerable to a random check. We may have Marshall's in the future but until then it's up to driver discretion. You know if you've cut or not, you know if your close. Check your own Qualifying laps and let admin know, you have 30 minutes session so plenty of time. If it's reported and found to be correct after the event than the driver in question is disqualified from that race. Penalties as per cut severity, the bigger the cut the more places you'll drop if you notify admin before the race. Bryan Ferguson Admin RE: What is deemed cutting? - Paul Swire - 24-06-2014 With the upcomming event at Silverstone please see the images below to clarify the rule on coner cutting further. All four wheels are not allowed to cross the white line as shown in the first two images. Thanks DJC for the images
RE: What is deemed cutting? - gorgias1976 - 25-06-2014 That second one was pretty obvious ;D In this track there are several corners where cutting can (and probably will) happen. - Turn 5 exit (Arena). Very easy to let the car loose into the green tarmac and gain extra acceleration for the straight. - Turn 7 exit (Luffield). Same as Turn 5. - Turn 8 exit (Woodcote). When tires start to struggle same as Turns 5 & 7 - Turn 9 exit (Copse). Same as Turns 5 & 7 - Turn 11 entry (Maggots). Easy to cut the entry to face better the next turn. - Turn 12. second picture of Paul's post (The game will warn you if cutting gaining time here) - Turn 18 (final turn) first picture of Paul's post (easy to cut when struggling for grip)
RE: What is deemed cutting? - jerry 33 - 25-06-2014 off topic - I know, but ![]() just to say, like they have an old monza and spa - i wish they had an old silverstone. like in GPL - would be awful to go off with all that speed, but it would be fun to have the tracks like they were back then. now, back to your regular program 8) RE: What is deemed cutting? - gorgias1976 - 25-06-2014 Re: off topic - jerry 33 Wrote:I know, but I agree with you. I totally dislike this modern "Tilkodrom" like tracks RE: What is deemed cutting? - Hedlund - 25-06-2014 Oh crap... it's very hard to know if you've cutted or not before watching replay. It would be easier with "at least two wheels on the curb" because it's easier to tell where the curb is than the white damn line (because you can feel it in the wheel). Last season we said two wheels on the curb. Can't remember anything about those white lines. RE: What is deemed cutting? - gorgias1976 - 26-06-2014 I guess depending on tracks/curves the deemed cutting rule should be more flexible as it's imposible to be observing every driver in every corner. RE: What is deemed cutting? - 1959nikos - 26-06-2014 Hedlund Wrote:curbs are part of track http://www.formula1.com/inside_f1/rules_and_regulations/sporting_regulations/8683/fia.html 20.2 Drivers must use the track at all times. For the avoidance of doubt the white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not. A driver will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with the track. Should a car leave the track the driver may re-join, however, this may only be done when it is safe to do so and without gaining any lasting advantage. At the absolute discretion of the race director a driver may be given the opportunity to give back the whole of any advantage he gained by leaving the track. Some other usefull stuff there too 20.3 More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner. 20.4 Any driver defending his position on a straight, and before any braking area, may use the full width of the track during his first move, provided no significant portion of the car attempting to pass is alongside his. Whilst defending in this way the driver may not leave the track without justifiable reason. For the avoidance of doubt, if any part of the front wing of the car attempting to pass is alongside the rear wheel of the car in front this will be deemed to be a 'significant portion'. 20.5 Manoeuvres liable to hinder other drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track or any other abnormal change of direction, are not permitted. 20.6 As soon as a car is caught by another car which is about to lap it during the race the driver must allow the faster driver past at the first available opportunity. If the driver who has been caught does not allow the faster driver past, waved blue flags will be shown to indicate that he must allow the following driver to overtake. Can we assume we are talking about one's fastest qualifying lap? If we fall off the track and "gain no advantage" it is not reportable, correct? Joining back and causing an accident is. RE: What is deemed cutting? - Hedlund - 27-06-2014 Well I already knew that as I'm watching all F1 races... but didn't knew we applied FIA f1 rules and regulations here ![]() But damn those modern f1 rules and tracks.... :-\ why asphalt outside track limits? there should be at least 5-10m of gravel/grass before run off area. Then they wouldn't need that rule because drivers loose time when they go off track, but still safe. RE: What is deemed cutting? - gorgias1976 - 27-06-2014 We'll have to be extra cautious then with that many asphalt after kerbs. RE: What is deemed cutting? - 1959nikos - 27-06-2014 Hedlund Wrote:didn't knew we applied FIA f1 rules and regulations here We dont. Not in detail, in spirit yes. Bryan says we must have two wheels on the road, this is not written in F1 regulations but it it a foolproof way to judge if a person is in or out of track. But I really cannot understand what the fuss is about. Nobody will say anything if you go out of track by accident, you know that, we were never so picky around here, but, deliberate and systematic usage of outside of track to gain advantage against the others should stop. Dont you agree? |
