Expected race distance: c. 44 laps (TBC) Fuel usage: Normal (TBC) Mandatory pit stop rules apply. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - Myles (Mr Fox) - 10-11-2022 For anyone who did not race this track in the Sprint series this week, please read, understand and observe the pit entry/exit rules detailed here: http://Indi pit entry/exit rules RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - deecee52 - 10-11-2022 All 4 tyres to be changed ? RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - Keeper - 11-11-2022 Entering the apron lane off the back straight in race conditions? Unusual! Staying on the lane until the back straight is normal though. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - bullwinkle - 11-11-2022 yea I agree we should pit from turn 4 but whatever. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - deecee52 - 11-11-2022 I think pitting from turn 4 is dangerous , the racing line is too near to where people lift for the pits , you run the risk of rear ending a slowing car , on the back straight there is no confusion as you are well off the racing line and telegraphing your intention RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - Myles (Mr Fox) - 12-11-2022 Right. Whereas the Sprint running if this event had slightly different conditions (fuel x2), the Feature rules are unchanged. Fuel is x1 and a mandatory 4 tyre pit is required (partly as I understand this might make Tim’s scoring job easier). The pit etiquette rules are as used in the Sprint and are linked to above.
Pit lane limit is 100kph as per normal Feature races (Sprint limit was higher - don’t get caught out!) Use of CrewChief is highly recommended especially for non-VR users - but turn off all auto-pit assists as a number of us appear to have had issues with fuelling and/or tyre changes that were ignored/overridden (I’m not just talking about the new default ’no tyre change’ enforced at race start..l) RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - Myles (Mr Fox) - 13-11-2022 Raceday password: Milk Race length: 44 laps RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - DJCruicky - 13-11-2022 Looking at tyre temps, my Right Front gets to 270c lol. I think that's a weeeee bit hot ![]() There are over 40 pits at this track so sharing should be no problem. Good luck tonight all. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - hangon - 13-11-2022 Had lost my audio at start of race... my apologies to who I hit ..I had a little more speed and was not prepared for your braking point..my fault ..after that and not having audio decided to pack it in

I’ve not had drop-outs but do find that with the latest build the sound volumes from one session to another can be pretty random… Sadly, for you, if you didn’t manage 5 laps, no points…. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - bullwinkle - 13-11-2022 well, this series is just stupid for me. I loaded the wrong set up and was really slow, but I was going to run it out then went in pits and my fuel load was changed from 16 gal to 11 and I could not fix it so no point going on. Cc has a ‘fuel to end’ optional calculation feature and a supplementary ‘use max fuel use’ tickbox… Two extra things to get wrong. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - Keeper - 13-11-2022 Right rear is what gets hot if you've got an oval setup on it... I chose the Barracuda over the quicker Camaro for the sake of stability -- longer wheelbase is better for the long corners and in general the Barracuda is more stable over bumps. Wasn't sure what the qualification result would be, so getting pole was a bit of a surprise. Unfortunately after DJC drafted past and got in front I was spooked when he put on the brakes mid-corner, so had to get out of line to avoid him and dropped back to 4th. Then a few laps later I ended up spinning when misjudging how much check-up there would be. Had to spin to avoid DC. With no yellows that's pretty much race over. Worked through traffic steadily except when Giorgio stomped on the brakes before Turn 1 -- actually locking a wheel! -- making it impossible to avoid hitting him. I think he was running a road-course setup so was struggling with massive understeer, as well as the instability caused by having forward brake bias on an oval meaning he needed to do all his slowing down before turn-in. A short time later as I went around him on the outside he understeered into me pretty heavily in the South Chute but we both continued. However, the damage cost me a lot of speed. In practice stints I could do 58.5 through 58.9 the entire way (and the occasional 58.4) but now I was 58.8 to 59.2. After the pit stop I was I think 16 seconds behind Rick, but could only get it down to 3 seconds by the end, for a P3. Usually I'd be happy with P3 but this is one that got away. I'll be out of town next weekend, so will have to miss that one. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - Ricknau - 14-11-2022 Woohoo a rare podium for me! Got P4 for the start with another PB. Ran several laps just trailing the top 3. Gained P3 when Ron's troubles began One of the first to pit I think after 22 and of course fell back but slowly made it back as the pit cycle completed. Then got past DC as he lay on his side on the front straight. So now P2. With Ron behind me at about 16 seconds I just needed keep up a decent pace and not flub up. I managed to do that and thankfully for me the laps ran out on Ron as he was gaining on me. Interesting that I had the voice of a spotter in my headset even though I've never selected it or installed any add-on to do that. Must be part of the stock Indy track install. It was very helpful. Isn't it fantastic? If you remeber, when you touched me from behind I was battling with Seb, I was in the inner line at T1 entry so had to bracke hardly in order to keep the inside also on the exit. On the second touch we had, probably if you had kept the external line at the exit of T1 we would not have even touched. Next time consider to watch the replay before posting mate, and furthermore, cosider to lift when two other slower guys are in the middle of the battle entering a corner. You would have had all the time in the very long straights. RE: TAGELE Feature league Rnd 4/8 - Indianapolis 2020 - Keeper - 16-11-2022 I was on the outside line, and did watch the replay. (Also have years of oval racing experience.) You were just handicapped considerably by running a road-course setup (hence locking a wheel on a superspeedway which never should happen). No biggie. Rick, any track that is classified as an oval in the GDB will activate the in-game spotter. I have a custom spotter I made built from sounds that were in NASCAR Racing 2003's data files (some calls never used in that game). It has a few more calls, like "Car low ... stay low ... hold your line ... " using the randomization feature of rf2's Commentary file. No biggie.CrewChief is still something I highly recommend - even in VR. The spotter is useful on all track types. |
