It was a good event for me.
Marwin had the pole, with me just behind him.
Race start and Dave Coyne jumps passed me with a great start.
The first half of the race was watching Dave and Marwin in front have a close battle. They locked wheels at one point in the hairpin and lose a lot of time. I think Marwin might have had small bit of damage as Dave and I got passed him very easy half lap later.
Dave pits first and then me 1 lap later, and I come out in front Smile. My pit was 49 seconds.
Marwin and JPS come together when they both left their pit boxes with JPS spun around o_O.
Dave had a few offs after that, so it was a easy win for me.
I never touched the setup, was just using the default, seemed ok.

Spa67 next guys. Who will finish? Who will end it in the fields with cows and horses? :p

Very happy to see you all back on track and congrat DJ. For my part, I decided just before the race of my car, I was lacking in practice.

I had a bad qualifying but the more the race progressed the more comfortable I was and I got to a point where I could fight for the podium.

Unfortunately when I made my stop at the same time as Marwin who was faster than him and when I passed him we got hung up and after spinning I was stuck for several seconds in the garages. It's a shame but it's racing, that sort of thing can happen.

The rest of the race was difficult with a damaged car but I was able to finish 5th.

We look forward to seeing you on the track again.

Some great racing here last night lots of fun.

Got a great start and dropped in behind Marwin , we stayed this way for while as it was pretty much a stalemate , I took time off him through the twisty bits he took it back on the striaghts , around lap 7 I noticed his car getting out of shape under heavy braking , a lap or so later I caught him after a slight off on the last corner , I got alongside and stayed there through Redgate but then he powered away again , I then started to close as I think his tyres were crying help , going into Melbourne I went wide to cut in tight and get under him , we interlocked wheels and my front nudged his sidepod and pushed him out wider (sorry Marwin once I was there I didnt dare brake in case your rears went over my fronts) , stayed in the lead for a couple of laps then pitted , lost time to damage repair came out around 10th , next lap DJ came out in front and I started to chase after him , was doing OK for a couple of laps then brain fade cut in and I had 2 offs on the same lap not braking for corners , lost loads of time and that was really race over for me .

RE: Race Day Information Rnd1 Donington - cookie - 08-11-2021

i managed to hold off marwin in the closing laps for a podium , every time i came on a lapped car marwin would gain 5 seconds , i was getting a bit nervous when he got to under a second but knew it would be hard to pass , i think with two to go he messed up[ and fell back again , i had an easy last lap
i bumped into the rear of a lapped honda at one point in the heat of it =- sorry
i bet a few people figured out they need to practice a bit before driving these beasts

RE: Race Day Information Rnd1 Donington - lamer of fortune - 08-11-2021

great racing fun again and looking forward to the whole championship.
I started training with a setup from Kyalami but i should have left it the default that might have been easier.
With quite a few training laps under my belt I felt quite confident to not make stupid mistakes but i should have read the race memo more carefully. I was not prepared for the mandatory pit stop and started with fuel for the full distance. after 14 laps or so i found myself in P1 and despite not having made a mistake this did not feel right. It also could not be the tyre wear forcing the others to pit. I therefor concluded I must have missed the mandatory pitstop rule and would still have to go. I was trying to do the stop as late as possible to not carry around excess fuel for too long but then the tyres began to wear out a bit and it felt like a better idea to come in. I also tried to reduce the fuel addition in the menue but that proved to be too difficult with the VR goggles on and the keyboard behind the wheel. I ruined 2 laps with this attempt. I then just came in had a 51 sec stop and drove P8 home which for me is not a bad result considering the level of the field.

I felt some pain holding a glass this morning as there was a lot of steering required with theses cars.

RE: Race Day Information Rnd1 Donington - Keeper - 08-11-2021

Was quite pleased to qualify P7 with the Cooper. Couldn't take advantage of a good start because of the poor start in front of me, and lost a position until someone went off at the chicane. A silly mistake on my part near halfway spun me around adding 17 seconds to my lap time and dropping several positions, but managed to bring it back to P7 at the end (though less than 17 seconds behind P6, alas). Using the car with the least power means I have little chance of catching anyone on the straights, but I do enjoy driving it anyway. My go-to cars in GPL were the Eagle and the Cooper (when not racing in a league that required changing cars every race -- we'd do one-make races, then pick-your-car-but-can-only-use-each-car-once races), and I wanted to bring some variety to the grid so I stuck with the Cooper. It'll be a much bigger disadvantage at Spa next week!

I dind't had time to have the right amount of practice and with these beasts it is a suicide.

With no expectations I was doing my race with my pace, had a pair of pik-niks on the wonderful Donington hills with no damages untill the collision (around lap 20) I had with Santiago Dancourt that was rejoinig the track.
With both the front wheels broken but still attached at the car I managed to arrive at the pits and I think I had a bug. After the stop, the in game car graphic that shows tyres and dameges was all clean but the wheels was still broken. I wached the replay and there the tyres looks repaired but was not.
I (not) finished my race in the pits.

Now, I am afraid of Historic Spa but practice can save me!

See you soon on track!

Wouldn’t mind a copy myself if you don’t mind -I’m only hotlapping. I usually enjoy the old Spa and delight in timing the Masta kink - but mostly seem to be exploring the rather delightful deformable car-parts model!

That was a very bizarre accident, I watched the replay on that.
What Giorgio did not mention on his race report he was also re-joining the track at the same time as Santiago, I don't think he should take full blame here.
I think it's one of them extraordinary situations where both could not see each other Big Grin

I might have laughed a little sorry as I am evil Big Grin.

I'm in Brabham and found the same when driving with Cookie last night. He was flying passed me on all the straights. There are not enough corners at Spa to make up for time lost on the straights.

I didn't blame Santiago for anything, I've just reported what happened.

Now, if we take a better look at the situation, my rejoining manover was finished at the moment of the impact, that's why I didn't mention that, furthermore, I was trying to take the right side of track as a car was going to lap me.
If I have to tell the truth Santiago must had paid more attention at his rejoin manouver.

We all know that shit can happen. My race was ruined by the lack of practice, like I said on my report, not by Santiago!
