RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - Ricknau - 17-02-2019 Started P15, finished P13 oops P14. Never got comfortable and consistent. But had a great multi-lap battle with Tim. I lead several laps by 5 or so seconds. It varied up or down a few seconds by whomever got sloppy on what lap. He pitted first so gave me a big gap which lasted for 10 or so laps until I did what I swore I never do... I pitted. This put us right back together with me again ahead by 5ish. But on lap 34 I spun (span?? hehe) on the T1 downhill and the gap closed to feet. I fought him off for several laps but eventually went deep into T2 and he got by. I burned up my tires and will trying to make him bobble which he never did and eventually opened up a multi second gap. When I saw I was about to be lapped for the second time I slowed early to let the leader by before the S/F line so I could give my nerves and ass a break! Good racing Tim! RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - bendx - 17-02-2019 2 races for me. Awfull start. I touch someone (my fault I think, sorry ) and had to pit and repair. I need to check crew chief, the spotter is not efficient at the start... I takes me 2 laps after to achieve to focus again and start to catch up and finish P9... RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - myself9 - 18-02-2019 All I can say is that I got L U C K Y today. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - Bruce - 18-02-2019 Another finish from the back. Bit more off pace here that at Paul Rickard. Best lap was 1.30 think the leaders where in the teens. Must have seen the leader pass me about 10 times. Had to pit twice for repairs, first got hit from behind while trying to let faster cars past, the second was all me (I crashed into a wall), damage not great just enough to mess steering. Didn't take too long to fix and never bother to add fuel or tyres. Quite a few duels going on so wanted to concentrate on not getting it anyone's way. Thjink I managed. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - bullwinkle - 18-02-2019 you did great Bruce. It was fun Rick too bad we were no where near the front and sorry to say we were 13 n 14th RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - Tygernoot - 18-02-2019 Wow, that was rather amazing ![]() I had a pretty good start, but in the first half of the race I made a few mistakes. For some reason I went off in the first corner - a place I had never ever gone off once during my practice laps, but I suppose there are worst places than T1 to go off. Later on I went off at the hairpin as I locked up the brakes, and rejoined unsafely on the exit line, nearly driving into @DJCruicky. Very sorry for that moment, when I rejoined I did see you coming around the corner, but then I was confused as to where you were. It turns out you were actually right next to me already :/ After that my driving got better, and I had great fun chasing @Fergy around the track. It's such a tricky track and it took me quite a while to get past. In the last 10 laps or so I got chased by @Daniel Tani, and was struggling to keep him behind. At one point we went side by side through Hawthorns, that was just amazing. We had a small touch and spin later on, but he very kindly waited to let me past again. (I didn't even think this was necessary as we were battling quite hard and it was just an accident ). One lap later I made a small mistake and Daniel overtook me after all. Then we just had an insane moment in the final two corners. Daniel struggled to lap a car and went a bit wide in the penultimate corner. I took the other line, but then had to swerve to avoid another lapped car that got caught up in the middle of this - while at the same time braking for the final corner. Into the corner I had a slight touch on my right sidepod. Turns out that Daniel was also half way up my inside! I just couldn't keep up with what was happening anymore lol, I was happy to make the corner. If I had known Daniel was there I would have given more room, but unfortunately he spun off. That entire moment was just bonkers. I can recommend anyone to watch the replay for that moment, must have been around lap 42. So there we are. A really great first race, lots of action, some mistakes, but overall plain good fun and very tough but fair racing. It's a real shame I will have to miss the next race, but looking forward to the rest of the season! RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - Fergy - 18-02-2019 First of all a big welcome to the new drivers this round. Always exciting to see especially when they are long time friends. Stunning Qualifying lap by @SBart_uk . Hope to see more of this. Congrats to @J-P SImard too. Dominating the competition at the moment. Brands turned out to be one of the most intense races I can remember in some time. Right from the start up to around lap 36 there was no respite. I chased @Keeper for 18 laps before he lost connection. A real shame and better luck next time. @Tygernoot in his first race back for some time showed how good he is, this is a very tough mod and with limited practice to come out with it with 4th place is impressive. Well done Ed. Other battles with @Dan Bayford and @DJCruicky made for a great race as the pressure was really on. Apologies to @ricikrick Mr Keene, After viewing the replay I'd say it was my fault we hit. You were trying the get off the race line and in a rush of blood I went the wrong side of you. On that... I think as a group we do very well to get of the race line asap under blue flag. It's not easy sometimes and if we stay mindful of this we'll keep improving. I made a bad mistake late in the race and was trapped on the race line into the last turn, luckily no harm done but need to do better next time. Trying to keep it all together is the hardest thing. You could be in a battle and stand to lose a place either lapping or being lapped. It's luck of the draw sometimes. It's what is making the season authentic, we have different skill levels on the track. Just how we roll at SR4L. Keep up the good work, looking forward to getting up at 6am for the next one. Fergy RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - Dan Bayford - 18-02-2019 I had a great race and for the 1st time this season I got my fuel to last me to the finish I tried to keep the pressure on but to be honest I only gained places through others misfortunes big thanks to our admins this is a great season RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - SBart_uk - 18-02-2019 Really enjoyed my first race with you guys, I'm pretty gutted that I'm an idiot and didn't tell the pit crew to put any fuel in. I'd taken a bit of damage just before, so was thinking that I was lucky and only had to drive half a lap with the damage and was pretty sure I could regain any time i'd loose getting repairs. But as I was sitting in the pit box it dawned on me that I'd been so focused on getting a good start and then racing that I hadn't set it on the grid. I didn't have enough fuel to make it round again so had to retire. Hopefully I wont make these silly mistakes again as it was only my 4th race in rFactor 2. I'm not sure I'll make the next race as I have another commitment on the 3rd but hopefully I'll be all done in time to race round the Nurburgring! ![]() Here is my stream of the race: RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - Edvvc - 18-02-2019 Qualified 2nd and got a good clean start to follow Stuart for a bit before he disappeared into the distance. Drove a lonely stint but kept it together to pit after lap 23. The pits seemed overly slippery and I was going too fast and I ran into one of the garage walls. Lost loads of time cycling through the menu to check damage, spinning car round and then 33 seconds to repair, refuel and change tyres. Exited pits about 7th not expecting a good result but thankfully the cars in front started pitting and I caught up with Shannon who was on a no-pit strategy. Managed to get past cleanly and the gap to J-P was about 13 seconds. A more awake me might have been able to close down that gap but J-P was his on his usual solid form and it only dropped to 10 seconds before I was slowed by lapped cars having their own battles. A really enjoyable race. I had been left foot braking in practice but this was one of those occasions that switching to the right foot on race day seemed to give a burst of feel and confidence. This seemed to go well with a higher coast diff setting. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 9 Great Britain Brands REPORTS - J-P SImard - 18-02-2019 On my side I made a good qual, 4th, but I knew that I did not have the speed to win, on this tricky track . My goal was to climb on the podium and pick up important points, keeping me away from problems . Stuart bluffed me by his speed and especially the stability of his car, very impresionnant, good work. I had a good start winning a place, I quickly saw that my main opponent would be Ed. He took a little advance in the first laps I managed to stabilize and then there were stops . I intended to stop as late as possible without changing tires, but when I saw that my opponents had problems during and after their stop, I immediately went into the pits to change the tires. With a lead of almost 16 seconds on ED, I was able to relax a little by keeping a small margin of safety despite a clash with a car one lap behind who made me lose 6 seconds. Otherwise very nice battle Ed sorry for your incident in the pits. Nice race to all I had a lot of fun and see you on the hardest of the season. |
