RE: ISI F2 2012 Race #3 Malaysia Full Loop - Paul Swire - 25-11-2012

Race one:

I started near the back of the grid and managed to pick a few places up in the first lap by going past the usuall first lap crashes. Was slowly catching Nikos then had contact with Jesus M Rodriguez (sorry Sad ). Apart from that a clean race and finished 11th.

Race two:

At the back of the grid for the start again. Again made a few places on the first lap. Mad a few errors and ended up in the gravel/grass a couple of times. Apart from that a great race.

Race three: (Reverse Grid)

Started in second. Had a good start but that's were it ended. Got run off the track on the second corner. Managed to get back on track and then got run off the track at the double right hander at the back grandstand into the gravel. Down to last place Sad After that couldn't get into rhythm again I was not happy. So on the next lap I gave up.

RE: ISI F2 2012 Race #3 Malaysia Full Loop - Lecram - 25-11-2012

Zero practise with this car the last couple of days so in qualify I was struggling but still managed 2nd place.

Race 1 I couldnt get to grips with the car, Gorka was away after the start, Dean overtook me and I took the place back with my stop but again, some laps later he passed me so 3rd place.

Race 2 I had a ok start, passed Dean in T1 for P2 but he overtook me immidiately on the straight. We were lucky Gorka did a little Vettel at the hairpin of lap 1, with his nose in the opposite way facing the traffic, Dean and I barely could avoid him. I think that unsettled Dean a bit as I saw him struggling and at T1 the next lap he went way too wide and I passed him for the lead outside T2. I was able to drive away and having a clean stop, I drove the car to victory. Smile

Race 3, starting from the back I suddenly had my back-end coming around after engaging 2nd gear, nearly took Dean out but luckily I could point the car in the right way again and focus on T1.
I passed quite a lot of cars there, took some risks in T2 and it worked out fine, soon I was behind Dean and the leader. I closed in on them and made an early stop, not getting into the fight andto have some clear track after the stop. Well, I had some traffic after the stop but that cleared itself and while the others pitted I took over P1 again and another win in the pocket Big Grin

Well done all, see you soon!

Qualy
--------
I wasn't expecting to be the poleman. I was testing two different setups. Finally the medium wing setup was a couple of tents faster than the full wing setup, so I decided to use it during race as it'd be better to defend and attack due to it's higher top speed.

Race1
--------
Kept my first position at the first curve and so it went till pit time, keeping Marcel and Dean close behind. After a little scary moment at pit entry that luckily went well I remained first until the end of the race.

Race2
--------
Did a good start but at turn 9, the hairpin, I kissed the outside border of the curve spinning out. I had to wait to rejoin for the rest of the people to pass safely. So I found myself last and decided to take an early pitstop. I entered a little fast and I got a drive through penalty. Rest of the race was a time battle until finishing fourth

Race3
-------
Safe start at the reverse grid race. Busy first lap with cars everywhere. After being behind marcel for a lap I made a silly mistake at turn 14 and decided to pit early. At the pit entry trying to be too fast I kissed the grass and spun. Rest of the race was a recover race. At the final lap I saw in front of me Everon and Dean crashing eachother leaving me in a podium position and therefore tasting the champagne again.

I'm starting to like this F2 cars, they are fast and challenging.

Dropped out after a couple of laps, just haven't had time to put in the practice and am having real trouble with this car, the lack of feel that seem not to trouble others just frustrates me...I'll try to get more practice in for the next one and see if I can just keep the sodding thing between the lines for twenty minuets and not be a liability for everyone else Sad

RE: ISI F2 2012 Race #3 Malaysia Full Loop - vittorio - 26-11-2012

For this race i finally had a new replacement wheel, one motor from my old wheel died. This made some difference to the last races, i have great FFB again.
The last race with F2 at palm beach i made the mistake to only practice hotlaps and therefore i totally screwed up the races, i spinned alot. This time i practiced hotlaps till i have beaten nikos fastest lap. Same mistake!! (who says you can teach an old dog new tricks?) But fortunately came to sense again and did some safe lap practicing before the race.

Race 1: Started slow, im still afraid to kick someone out. Im driving with 30° FOV for max. realism and therefore cant see cars beside me without pressing keys to look left/right, that makes me anxiously. Couldnt hold nikos, but after my pitstop i was in front of him, so pitting faster makes a big difference. Wondered about car color while racing. In season 1 the car color light blue was the color for attention, now it seems the new color is neon yellow. Finished 7th, not bad.

Race 2: Had a great fight last lap with Everon and finished 5th. Awesome!

Race 3: Reverse grid, Started slowly again and messed up the whole race. 9th place

Im feeling more confident and starting to like the modern F2. The fast double right hander at malaysia is awesome with the modern F2.

I need to use virtual mirrors as my FOV settings don't let me see the real ones.

It had been a long time since my last race, i enjoyed it alot. My biggest enemy was mistakes (spinnings) , 2/3 per race.

Race1: Started at 6th position after the qualy, safetely going at the 2first laps and was at 4th position, then started doing maistakes who makes me finish at 5 place.

Race2: Started in 5h position and was 3rd after 1 lap but my enemy was behind the last corner... where i spoon out. I think i finished at 8th position, don't remeber.

Race3: Started at 4th position and after the first corner was for the firts tmie at the first position, and so untill the 3rd lap, when i thought to make a beautiful spin out for the audience and finifhed race in 6th position.

It was a great night!
Looking foward for next F2 2012 race. Smile

RE: ISI F2 2012 Race #3 Malaysia Full Loop - 1959nikos - 26-11-2012

I had a lovely 1st race, made no mistakes, I thought I had Vittorio at safe distance, but had a 12 (!) sec pitstop at 6th lap that helped him pass me.

2nd race, I pitted at 4th lap and did a 8sec pitstop (? is that the catch? pitting early?) and all was going well as I was quite up front and lapping consistenly.

While on full throttle at main straight, I decided to cycle the menus on screen, which I have assigned at far right button on my h-shift.
While doing this I pressed by mistake the stick into 3rd. I panicked and brought the stick into neutral (cruise mode lol).
To top it all nicely, I had the clever idea to go back in 6th with the paddles, so a click got me to 1st while going flat out, so there was fine smoke everywhere and my first blown engine...(so it can be done, another first for me)

Last race was a disaster, I was kicked out at 1st lap, couldnt get back in, so the rest was just spectating a strong battle between Dean, Paul Ceglia and Everon.

Lastly, I showed off my knowledge of Spanish language, to amazed Everon and Jesus Big Grin

Oh, I missed that. :o

About pit strategy, in this 20min races no much tire strategy as they will last the whole race without a problem. There should be no significant advantage in early/late stop.

I know two more words: tapas and cerveza. I had a wonderful time in Barcelona and these words were very useful.

I was in Madrid once and had to ask instructions how to go to Saragossa.
I asked the kind gentleman a lot of times "Saragossa?" again "Saragossa?" again "Saragossa?"
He couldnt understand, so I showed Saragossa on the map.
So he shouted with a smile "Oh! Tharagotha!"

RE: ISI F2 2012 Race #3 Malaysia Full Loop - 1959nikos - 26-11-2012

not everywhere, I think in Catalunia is plain s. Our Spanish friends can clarify this.

RE: ISI F2 2012 Race #3 Malaysia Full Loop - gorgias1976 - 26-11-2012

Well actually there is no "ss" in spanish "Tharagotha" is written "Zaragoza". All spanish is mainly plain except for the more the south you are the less plain it is spoken as people tend to speak words "lazier". Here at the north is mainly plain, though we have no free "tapas", we have "pinchos" (tapas like but paid).
In Barcelona (mainly all Catalonia) spanish is talk with a very distinguisable accent (Catalonians have always been called "polish" (from Poland) from the way they talk)
I'm going to Madrid next week just to enjoy "cañas" and "tapas" across the whole city (well, also I'll visiting some cultural places :Smile )

If there are cars in front of you and you feel you are losing time behind them, pitting earlier than them and then having clear track to do faster laps can enable you to pass them when they are pitting. As I did in race 3.

Pitting earlier should not mean 'for a shorter time' if theres no fuel involved. My stops we're all around 8-9 secs.

i guess you had some minor car damage and therefore your pitstop took 12sec to complete in 1st race. i lost my front wing in 3rd race and the pitstop was lasting alot longer. you can decide before your pitstop to repair the car or not.
